Warm welcome and convenient for N. Leeds

Posted 14-Aug-2015
Pros: Location (in country setting yet convenient) and some character in the building. Good breakfast.
Location: We were visiting friends so no experience of local attractions.
We spent two nights. Pleasant location, friendly staff and a comfortable room.

Quiet hotel with good size room

Posted 17-Jul-2015
Pros: Quiet and good size room
Cons: Check in was a bit slow as only one person on the desk but she was very helpful
Location: Rural setting but only 20 minutes from the centre of Leeds
We booked this hotel because we were going to a graduation event at Leeds Trinity Uni. It was well located for the event and the overall experience of the hotel was very good. The rooms all seem to look out over a wooded area away from the road and it was really quiet at night event though we had the windows open.

Close to cemetery.

Posted 05-Jul-2015
Pros: The staff were lovely.
Cons: The food in the restaurant could certainly be improved. Restaurant prices but service station quality - my chicken breast was like leather.
Location: We choose the hotel because we were going to a funeral and it is close to the cemetery.
The hotel and staff were lovely but the food was overpriced and poor. Would advise anybody to eat out rather than in the restaurant. The meals in the nearby Lawnswood Arms looked similar but were half the price and there is an amazing fish and chip restaurant in Headingley.

Good base to explore the area

Posted 16-Jun-2015
Pros: Free parking and swimming pool available. Comfortable bed.
Cons: Air-conditioning would have been welcome.
Location: See above
We were attending a national meeting about cemeteries and this was a good choice. It was easy to drive to the various venues:Thackray Medical Museum; Beckett Street cemetery and Lawnswood cemetery. We also visited Harewood House and the RHS garden at Harlow-Carr. The room was fine though we were surprised it did not have air-conditioning; it was very hot when we arrived. There was a good choice of hot drinks and a kettle. The TV was limited but did have radio channels as well as the basic TV channels. One night we ate in the hotel, one night we caught the bus outside and ate Indian at 7Spices near Hyde Park Corner (wonderful) and the last night we went a mile into Leeds and ate at the Italian Divina (excellent). There was no ice making equipment in the hotel and no fridge in our basic room but the bar staff were excellent and gave us ice whenever we asked.

Very tired

The hotel is very tired and needs a serious cash injection to bring it up to a sufficient standard to justify the prices charged.

Our latest visit

Posted 31-May-2015
Pros: The convenience to family Friendly staff Clean and comfortable bed
Cons: Bathroom -as above
Location: On the outskirts of Leeds Near airport Gold Acres for walking
Every thing was fine for one of our many return visits to the hotel as family live near by. However, the standard of the bathroom was poor as water spurted from the shower control in the bath and the taps were difficult to turn off. The mirror was in a poor condition with the frame very tarnished. The handle to the balcony was missing some lying out side on the balcony and the rest placed in a drawer.

Ok room bad food, expensive beer

Hotel staff where very friendly and room was pleasant enough, food though was another matter! They tried hard with presentation of a posh burger but totally ruined it by chips cooked in old nasty oil. The burger must have been killed in a microwave as dry and over cooked but not burnt. and the so called blue cheese was microwaved to death!! I would have mentioned it to the single bar staff working that event but she was rushed off her feet & the poor thing didn't need more stress as there was nothing she could have done.
