"A typical market town hotel old fashioned comfort."
A gently decaying market town hotel. Clean enough on the surface but needs extensive redecoration and replacement of carpets etc. A lovely warm swimming pool; although the Jacuzzi was freezing. Notwithstanding the above it has a lovely quirky charm and is in an excellent position to explore the town. Good value for money as long as you don'r expect too much. Serves an excellent pint of Harveys Best.

"Exceptional hotel"
Wonderful ambience, great staff, exceptional cooked breakfast and fresh fruit. Only comments are that the ensuite bathroom was a bit tired, but functioned perfectly. Also there was no fridge in the room.

"Lovely stay, weak wifi"
Beautiful hotel, comfortable bed, hot shower and delicious breakfast! I guess my only frustration was that the wifi was virtually non-existant - it kept cutting out or took ages for anything to load. I was hoping for a relaxing evening watching a film/tv show on my laptop but it just didnt happen becuase it was taking ages to download! I guess that says more about me in that i came expecting super fast internet access. Anyway, the room and hotel and breakfast was lovely!

"Lovely grounds, excellent service and great food"
We stayed for a couple of days to enjoy a spa break. It is not a cheap place to stay but we knew that before we went. We didn't have the breakfast included in our room rate and it therefore seemed very steep to pay £15.50 for a bowl of cereal and a croissant! We ate in both the Brasserie and the Restaurant and found the food and service in both excellent. The spa we found quite noisy - not from the people in it necessarily but the echoing nature of the space and the fountains that were quite loud. The outdoor hot tub and sauna were a treat, we had them to ourselves! We were really disappointed that the steam room and sauna facilities were in each individual changing room and my partner and I could not therefore do that together. The room was large and the bed really comfortable. Especially nice to have different teas on offer. The shower was underwhelming, expected better in a junior suite but the bathroom was enormous and well equipped.

"Good hotel and location."
Enjoyed our 3 night stay. Ideal location. Several good restaurants within easy walk including the one attached to the hotel. Good cooked breakfast, made to order. Would have been nice to have a bowl of prepared fruit. We had a room at the front of the hotel, the traffic noise was a bit tiresome but it did not spoil our stay.
