Perched on top of a knoll overlooking the river Adur are the remains of a Norman castle. Bramber Castle was built soon after the Norman Conquest so that William I could defend his territories. A 14 metre high wall is all that remains. Arundel Castle, built around the same time, was lovingly restored by Henry the 15th Duke of Norfolk in the 19th Century and perfectly delivers on the idea of a fairy tale castle.
