Wells
Marvellous cottage

5/5 Excellent

Excellent property with a homely feeling
Perfect location for exploring Wells and surrounding area.

5/5 Excellent

A beautiful cottage minutes from the cathedral which is home from home.
Visited Wells with both my teenage sons. We loved the property felt really cosy with all the various carefully thought out details such as the artwork. The garden was beautiful, we ate most of our meals there as it was very sheltered and great to hear all the birds. The kitchen was so well equipped it was like being at home, not to mention the very generous Welcome package-Thank you. We went out every day kayaking on the River, cycling down the Strawberry line (nearly all off road), Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar gorge, Longleat, in addition to various events in Wells. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Cosy house in excellent location
Four of us (two adults, a ten year old & an eight year old) have just arrived home from our stay at Tor Street. On arrival, we met with the host, who was welcoming and friendly. The house is well-equipped in the bathroom (with towels, toilet rolls, hand wash, etc) and the kitchen (choice of coffee, wine, tea, milk, biscuits, washing up equipment, DAB radio, etc). The Smart TV was also much appreciated! The house is characterful, cosy, with lovely decor and was big enough for the four of us to stay for the week. The courtyard garden was lovely to relax in in the afternoon. There is a BBQ for those who should wish to have one. You may even meet the next door neighbour's cute cat if you are lucky... You can quite literally see the cathedral from the lounge and hear the chimes, which really reminds you that you are in Wells. You are presented with a permit to park in the car park across the road. We never struggled to get a space. However, if one were to struggle to get a space, you could simply park on Tor Street itself. In terms of its proximity to the centre of Wells, it couldn't be much more central. The cathedral is around two minutes' walk. A pleasant walk up to the moat of Bishops Palace Gardens is just a minute up Tor Street. A kid's playground is located up the same walk just three minutes away. There are a number of green spaces in the centre to enjoy. Market Place is a centre for independent restaurants, cafes, boutiques, etc, but there is Ask, Costa, Caffe Nero, Wetherspoons and Coffee #1 for those wishing for something more familiar. Wells Cathedral is free to enter (although they do suggest a donation) and is well worth visiting, as is the nearby Vicars Close. We (the adults) found Wells a great place to jog round first thing in the morning, as it was quiet and generally flat. Further afield, you have Glastonbury which has a more alternative vibe to Wells. The Tor was a highlight. Weston Super Mare, although often referred to as Weston Super Mud, was great fun for the kids, who were impressed by the tide, the donkeys and the pier. Bristol was around 20 miles away, the docks being a great place to walk round and have a meal. The car parking prices in and around the Old City area are difficult to stomach, but if you don't mind a little wander, we'd recommend parking in the Bedminster area - although this is a more 'vibrant' part of town, it was home to the Windmill City Farm. In summary, we'd very much recommend Tor Street for your stay!
