Historic ambiance and quality but upbeat

Posted 22-May-2017
Pros: Outstanding, professional Staff. Very good location with tons of close restaurants, easy cab access and metro station at DuPont Circle.
Cons: Better eggs at breakfast buffet, or offer omlette station.
Location: Easy walk to DuPont Circle Metro but the hotel is on a hill so be wary if you are wheelchair or use a walker, etc. --that could be tough.
This hotel is as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. I love that it is so historic yet the rooms have been totally updated and have a urban chic feel. The staff was outstanding-- each crew I saw over my four days were tremendous. The dining room staff was also professional and excellent. I was fortunate to have one of the king suites and it was larger than many one bedroom apartments I have seen. The bed was extremely comfortable, pillow top type. Only downside I would say was the bathroom was small. It certainly functioned fine, but could have benefited from some additional space. Water pressure was fine, water was actually too hot in sink. The room and entire hotel was spotless, love the vintage elevators, although they were slow...but hey, they are antiques and have earned their slower pace. The breakfast buffet was OK but the eggs did not seem like 100% fresh, real eggs. I opted for the Eggs Benedict my second time eating there, and the hollandaise did not have enough lemon in it and was somewhat bland.

Not Impressed

Posted 16-May-2017
Pros: Lovely decorations and furniture
Cons: Attention to detail-- like properly locking windows. Menu in restaurant downstairs was quite abbreviated.
Location: Great location
The first room they placed me in had two windows that did not adequately lock. On the second floor ( beside a flat roof with very easy access to the other rooms on my floor via their windows) with easy access to my windows. Downtown DC is not the place for this. Dupont Circle or not. When I tried to change rooms, I was told there were not any available. I called the front desk to enquire about a room, without identifying myself, and was told that they had immediate availability. After politely confronting the front desk staff with this new knowledge, they THEN changed my room. After that, there were no more incidents but it colored the entire stay for me. The last thing a woman traveling alone for business wants is to feel unsafe and ignored.

This hotel was amazing! I booked a suite for a great price, the room was way bigger than I expected. Staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. They have me anything I asked for. I would 100% stay here again!! This helped make my birthday weekend awesome!

Spring in DC

Posted 23-Apr-2017
Pros: I like the professional, yet interested and helpful way the employees interacted with guests. Built in 1906 The Churchill is just a lovely gem.
Our trip to DC in April was a great experience. The Churchill Hotel was a big part of that experience. Everyone that worked for the Churchill Hotel was friendly and helpful. Not one unkind word or attitude. I love old hotels that have lovingly been cared for and preserved. The intimate nature of this small hotel surrounded by mega hotel giants gave us the ultimate cared-for experience. A short walk to the metro in either direction gave us a neighborhood view of Washington we could have missed. Dinner and breakfast there gave us a grounded, pleasant way to start and end our day.

Quiet historical Hotel at Dupont Circle

Posted 21-Apr-2017
Pros: Personnel is extremely friendly and react quickly to any requests.
Location: The nearest metro station DuPont Circle is 3 min by walk. The area is full of restaurants and shops down to Connecticut ave towards the City Center. N
Dates of lodging: April 15-18 The hotel is old (historical), but newly renovated. Good sound isolated: you do not hear the busy Connecticut ave in front of the hotel. Free Wi-Fi provides you uninterrupted internet service with the speed of 2Mb/sec. It's enough for surfing the net. If you need the faster service (watching movies etc), you can upgrade it up to 6Mb/sec for $9.99 a day. Parking is valet only, but with unlimited in/out options, $46 in 24 hrs. You just drop your keys to a receptionist at arrival. The personnel will take care of your car by themselves. If you need your car again, just call them in 5 min prior. No hassle at all. There are not any free or cheaper parking lots in the closest area. Rooms are clean with convenient beds. We ordered a suit with 2 double beds and 1 sofa, but in the reality we've got it w/o a sofa, but were provided with extra rolling bed free. After renovation they reduced rooms capacities, where sofas were located in order to have more sound isolation. At least they explained us so. Rooms look fresh, with no any unpleasant odors. Ask for rooms, which are not near elevators. They are quieter.

Nicer older hotel with charming character. Excellent location within easy walking distance to many embassies located in the surrounding area. Variety of dinning nearby as well.
