Half way stop between south and north

Posted 22-May-2017
Had a really nice day at the old Manor House at Walton Hall We had been touring Devon and Cornwall for 2 weeks and had an overnight stay with use of lovely indoor pool and Sauna Room was beautiful . Bed was massive and very comfortable. Espresso coffee machine . Kettle and all the trimmings. Only down side was that there were no reservations left in the Resturant- I should have pre booked but had a bar meal which was ok The breakfast was very good as were all the staff Many thanks for such a relaxing stay in such beautiful grounds and room

Modern hotel set in parkland. Good Location

Posted 10-May-2017
Pros: Room, Location, surroundings
Location: N/A. Visitung friends.
Stayed in Orchard Mews this time. Ground floor room. Large airy but quite warm on a sunny May day. No adverse comments at all. Room was not ready when we arrived at just before 3. Not a problem, we had coffee in the lounge bar. It became apparent that Saturday night had been a busy one since when got to our room the cleaning staff were very evident. Room was well equiped with power sockets and was very comfortable. we have stayed here a number of times and have never been disappointed with any aspect of the hotel.

Quiet English countryside

Posted 26-Apr-2017
Pros: Very nice restaurant
Cons: We were on a set menu, the costs to upgrade on the menu seemed very high
Location: Lovely quiet English countryside setting
An overnight stay in a well appointed room, staff were friendly and helpful, location quiet and rural.

Great for Stratford and Warwick

Posted 31-Mar-2017
Fabulous room with wonderful views. A bit cold and not a problem as there were heaters in the very big room. Quiet and comfortable..a long way from reception and very glad I didn't have a heavy bag. Locating the postcode on the sat nav proved problematic.

Relaxing environment inside and out

Posted 13-Mar-2017
Pros: Very welcoming and friendly staff.
Cons: Would be nice to have longer lasting showers in the swimming changing rooms!
Excellent hotel - great food, helpful friendly staff, lovely swimming pool, spacious outdoor grounds, excellent accommodation (only gave 4/5 for cleanliness as there was an empty fruitshoot bottle under the TV cabinet!). Leisure facilities lovely but changing rooms rather small for the number of people using them on a Saturday afternoon and the showers were push button ones that only lasted 15 seconds. On the whole a thoroughly enjoyable stay and we'll definitely go back!

Amazing staff

Posted 13-Mar-2017
Pros: Best feature of this hotel was its staff.
Cons: Arriving in the dark I must admit we found the lack of clear signs as to where reception was very confusing.
Location: We spent the day at Warwick castle, it was fantastic.
I took my mum away for the weekend as she hadn't been on holiday for a while. I needed a walk in shower for mum and a rom close by for myself, this was no problem and the rooms were spotless. Both thr bar and the restaurant served well cooked and beautifully presented food.

Disapointed with service.

Posted 22-Feb-2017 on Hotels
My stay was OK although I was served the wrong food in the bar area, it took some time before they rectified it. In the morning at checkout instead of getting a receipt they said they would email it to me, it never arrived, when I phoned to check they said the receptionist had misspelt my address but they would send a new receipt right away, the following day I had still not received it and had to chase again, as I write this I am still waiting for the receipt without which I cannot reclaim my expensed outlay, overall the hotel is good but the service leaves a lot to be desired.

Weekend birthday treat

Posted 20-Feb-2017
Pros: Loved the location. Really relaxing. It must be beautiful in the summer.
Cons: General attention to detail by cleaning/maintenance staff Covered walkways between buildings
Location: Stratford upon Avon less than 8 miles a way with lots to see and a huge variety of places to eat. Great base for visiting Cotswolds
The good things:- Really friendly staff especially in bar and restaurant Excellent food - we had breakfast, dinner and bar snacks during our trip Venue set in beautiful countryside Really peaceful - hardly heard a noise from other residents when we were in our room Good comfortable bed, nice size tv, lovely bathroom with good shower Bad/disappointing things :- Little things in room such of taps not being polished, bath mat looked like it had been tossed on side of the bath, not carefully placed Tissues not replaced on 2nd day when box was empty Toilet seat was at a jaunty angle The mat in the bar area outside the ladies toilet was a trip hazard One of the cubicles in the ladies toilet had obviously had the door pushed open with force breaking tiles and doorstop. With this being in a public area I would have thought that this would be repaired promptly or at least a note in the cubicle apologising for the mess and saying a repair had been scheduled. Other comments:- The view of the hotel on the website when we booked was of the lovely old Walton Hall. The hotel was actually a modern collection of buildings. The old Hall was a stunning looking building which I assume is used for conferences and weddings. I liked walking between buildings to get to the bar and restaurant but others with less mobility might find this difficult, especially in wet or icy weather. There wasn't a lift in our building. Only 2 floors but hard work carrying luggage upstairs!

Reasonably priced hotel in our chosen area

Posted 15-Feb-2017
Pros: Well staffed on reception, efficient check in. Clean room.
Cons: Heating in room. Bath towels had seen better days!
Location: Hotel was set in lovely grounds, out on its own so peaceful, but not within walking distance for stroll to village shops, pub etc.
Driving into estate to find reception proved complicated for us, we followed the directions but not knowing the hotel layout we found we were approaching from the rear through the bar( we were not alone in this as later while having a drink in the bar other guests trundled through with bags). Having carried our luggage in we then found our room was some distance away in another wing, lesson learned, find out where your room is before you unload car, especially as we found there was parking on other sites around the hotel closer to accomodation. The room was quite well equipped but a bit cold for our liking and although we tried turning up the heater it did not get any warmer. Disappointingly we did then not use the swimming pool as we hoped to as we found it was not accessible through the hotel but would mean a walk outside, and, as we were feeling cold already it didn't seem very inviting, hence we ended up with a warming drink in the bar! On the positive the staff we encountered were friendly and efficient and we enjoyed a good meal in the bar area.
