Old property with some modern luxuries

Posted 11-Mar-2016
Spent a night here prior to a business trip and pleased to report an enjoyable experience. If I could pick fault, and I'm having to dig deep here, the shower wasn't as powerful as I would have hoped, I had to try and find a happy medium between temperature and power. Aside from that, the staff were very attentive and polite, the room was clean and comfortable, and although I arrived too late to be hungry enough for dinner, the Wiltshire breakfast was superb and set me up nicely for a long day ahead. Overall, very happy and would go back if I am staying in the area again.

Christmas at the Bishopstrow Hotel and Spa

Posted 04-Jan-2016 on Hotels

Best winter getaway

Excellent stay besides the log fire, in the heated swimming pool and playing games in the library. Food good and service very friendly, don't need to go out except to walk down to the stream and see the Victorian follies

Country House Hotel

Posted 22-Oct-2015
Pros: Very clean, comfortable rooms
Cons: Décor and a fridge in the room would be good, more extensive menu although the food on offer was excellent
Location: Lots to do Stonehenge, Longleat, Salisbury Plain etc
Lovely old country home in picturesque gardens. Sadly since I last visited interior designers have, in my humble opinion, ruined the ambience with a70's retro feel that is quite inappropriate but obviously they liked it!

Great hotel, expensive restaurant!

Posted 16-Sep-2015 on Hotels
Great stay, the spa is fantastic so I'd highly recommend going there! Rooms are beautiful and very spacious, the bathrooms are enormous! If you want to eat, be warned that the restaurant is very expensive for what you get. I'd almost certainly recommend eating elsewhere instead!

Excellent restaurant for both evening meal and breakfast made this stay worthwhile, hotel is showing a little wear and tear in places.

The staff were very welcoming

Posted 25-Aug-2015
Pros: The staff the food and the pool
Cons: The one major problem was the specification of cheap lighting and furniture. Copies from china depressing.
Location: Great location. Nearby longleat and Salisbury etc
Great friendly welcoming staff throughout. Compared to the dreadful white hart in Salisbury.

Quintessential country hotel. Perfect service, excellent dining. Lovely grounds to round off a great stay. Only minor point was the slow shower so used the fab roll top bath instead. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Gourmet Meals near Longleat

Posted 22-Jul-2015
Pros: The rooms and bathrooms were lovely. The breakfasts were more gourmet and varied than any we'd experienced on our trip.
Cons: Because the facility is used for outside functions parking could be very difficult.
Location: It is near Longleat, home to a fabulous estate and an excellent little zoo.
We chose the hotel because it was a luxurious hotel near a zoo and manor I wanted to visit.
