Awkward check-in when I was told only one twin room, not two, as booked, was available. This was because I had been asked to give a name for one adult in each room and the receptionist had not understood that the two rooms formed one booking, made by me. An awful thing to hear when you've been driving for a day, but the poor guy was clearly overworked running the hotel and the pub. The hot water tap in the bathroom sink turned around instead of the handle, and the water pressure was weak and variable, stopping altogether at times. There was a hole in our interior wall of about 4 x 4 cm. We were surprised that the hotel does not have double glazing for noise reduction, given that it is on the main road and above a pub. Other than that, it is a very handsome building, magnificently situated between Warkworth castle and the river. We ate on the pub terrace in the evening sunshine, and the food was good. Parking is convenient and easy.
