We read mixed reviews about this hotel, and yes it is due a lick of paint in parts. That said, it was both clean and comfortable, and the room was attended to daily. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location quiet. It was our first stay and I would definitely recommend to others and plan to return next year.
The hotel itself is unexceptional.
The staff are very pleasant and sincere, but the room is nothing special, the television postage-stamp sized. The toilet is so close to the wall that one bangs one's knees sitting upon it. Since the hotel is on a main street, there are urban noises such as sirens all night. Internet was fine, but best attribute is location. Just a 10 minute stumble from the Leidseplein or the Reichsmuseum. Seemingly pricy, but i'd pay it again if i had too.
From arriving to leaving the staff were so helpful and friendly even helped with planing our days out what trams to get. The room was clean and comfortable with everything you needed, we sat in the beautiful garden whilst having a glass off wine. The hotel is in a quiet residential street a traditional style building, but close to cafes and bars and a supermarket. The tram stop to central station is just round the corner so easy to get to and from. Places. We visited artis zoo which was excellent spent 6 hours there. Vondle park is near too it's a lovely relaxing park and we were lucky enough to see two concerts whilst sat in the sun drinking larger. All I can say is it was a perfect stay !!
This Hotel had great personality, as a Philosophy Student it felt very homey. It was lovely and quite, rarely bumped into other guests and staff were on hand to assist with any queries. We got a very basic room - and that's exactly what it was. TV was tiny, bit frustrating that there was no remote! Bed wasn't uncomfortable but wasn't the most comfortable either. The shower was a hole in the ground with a curtain, so it was hard not flooding the bathroom. There was a maid who came and made our beds. Shame breakfast wasn't included, thought 15 euros was a bit much. But if you're planning on doing a lot of sight seeing then this hotel is perfect. You're far enough from the noisy nightlife to get some sleep but not so far that you can't walk back home. Oh and there's a magical little garden too!
It was a solid place to stay. The room was much smaller than I'm used to, but otherwise, it was great. The hotel staff were quite helpful. Everything was clean, the bathroom was great. I'd probably stay there again the next time I'm in Amsterdam.

We loved being by the park and the neighborhood. It was super easy to get in and out of town. One quick tram ride and everyday we took the tram in and just walked our way back to the hotel using different routes. The room is what you pay for. Not amazing, but definitely comfortable enough! The staff is friendly.

Wall paper and trim falling off wall. Fan in bathroom did not work. Door has to be locked from inside or outside-does not automatically lock. Very old creaky stairs. Only one (set of) outlet in the room. Location is great.

Very good location near tram stop for easy access to all of amsterdam, although also within walking distance. Nice restaurant and bar with extremely helpful and friendly staff. Rooms have good amenities except no English tea!!
We stayed here the last week of July and loved it. The location, very close to Vondelpark and convenient for Tram 2 was perfect for us. Easy to get to the museums and other attractions. Excellent restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Breakfast was adequate. We had a room on the bottom floor and found the narrow stairs a bit of a challenge, but worth it for our quiet room with a small patio.

This large grassy space is a great place to escape the bustle of the city. In summer Amsterdammers come here to stroll, jog, roller-skate, sunbathe, listen to free concerts and watch the buskers and children’s entertainers. The Nederlands Filmmuseum is a very popular cinema (free outdoor screenings in summer) with an excellent café restaurant. The Hollandse Manege is a charming period building and home to the Dutch Riding School.
