This is now the second time we have stayed at the Apple Inn Hotel, and once again we had a fantastic experience!
The hotel rooms are a good size and for what you get the hotel is incredibly well priced. Many rooms have small balconies, which we have been lucky enough to have been given on both the occasions that we stayed. Most importantly, it's clean and hygienic, with rooms being cleaned daily. The beds always feel clean and are very comfortable.
The hotel is located close to the scenic Vondelpark, a lovely place to go for a walk. The museum district is within walking distance, were there is plenty to see and do. The hotel is located along a tram line, getting the number 2 from out of the city center takes you up through all the major parts of the city (Dam Square, Liedseplein, Museum District) before stopping a 60 second walk from the hotel. The journey takes around 20 minutes from one end to the other, and as mentioned, there's plenty to see and do if you hop off along the way.
The hotel is just far enough from the city centre to feel quiet and relaxed, but is within easy reach of everything, especially when coupled with a tram pass. All-in-all I cannot recommend this hotel enough.
Expedia forgot to mention that the hotel was under construction, when we arrived tired from travelling to find the floors covered with sheets of paper and literally a building site next to our room. At the time they were drilling and hammer gunning the dividing walls. The staff at reception were kind but tired as it seemed they had been through this more than a fair amount of times. They informed us that we should have received a notification immediately after booking with Expedia to tell us of the current state of the hotel, and give us the option to cancel, we were not. We have complained with Expedia and are yet to receive any response, as first time customers we have been very disappointed and will probably not be using the service again. Expedia doing a disservice to an otherwise decent hotel.
Wall paper and trim falling off wall. Fan in bathroom did not work. Door has to be locked from inside or outside-does not automatically lock. Very old creaky stairs. Only one (set of) outlet in the room. Location is great.

Close to a large park in a quiet area and within a 15 minute tram journey of the centre of Amsterdam. The staff are welcoming and helpful and the continental-style breakfasts has a reasonable range of items to choose from. The only thing that let the place down was the state of the carpet on the stairs and hallways, which is worn and in need of replacement.

2 of us stayed in this hotel for 3 nights over summer. Our room was on the 4th floor with no lift, the stairs are steep but the room was worth it. Beautiful balcony view over Amsterdam in all directions with a nice cool breeze all night.
Hotel location is very close to all the museums and has good tram links to the city centre which is where we ended up going most days. Room was cleaned every day to a very high standard. The only thing I would complain about s that we asked for a double bed and got 2 singles pushed together, didnt mention it though once we got there because of the great balcony.

This large grassy space is a great place to escape the bustle of the city. In summer Amsterdammers come here to stroll, jog, roller-skate, sunbathe, listen to free concerts and watch the buskers and children’s entertainers. The Nederlands Filmmuseum is a very popular cinema (free outdoor screenings in summer) with an excellent café restaurant. The Hollandse Manege is a charming period building and home to the Dutch Riding School.
