This place is a 1912 house with multiple B&B type rooms. It is nicely setup, with all the details but also has the makings of a high quality hostel (kitchen to use, grounds etc.)
Conveniently located for Volcano National Park.
We were kind of in and out but I could see this being a place to stay a bit longer (though slightly pricey)
Very spacious room, newly constructed and clean. Hotel is more of a bed and breakfast located within a rainforest, so you would basically wake up to the chirpings of the birds and rain. The room has a large patio, many windows that would let in natural light, and collects rain for water usage. If you have wet clothing from the outings, don't expect them to dry from hanging because it's rainy most of the time in the area. The sign at the entrance of the hotel is hard to see so you might miss it if not careful. Just follow your GPS and immediately make a right turn into the small gateway after you passed the post office at the Post Office Lane if coming from the ITO airport, which is about 45 minutes away. There are a few restaurants close by within 3 minutes drive away. The Volcano National Park is about 5 minutes drive away, so very convinient. Wifi connection however, is kind off on and off. Some people complained about having to take off their shoes at the door when come in, but really, if you explore the trails inside the volcano park in the rain, your shoes would be all dirty from all that mud and lava rock, and you would make a mess all over the place; the hotel is like someone's home, you don't mess up people's home like that when they treat you with such warm hospitality
I booked this hotel online, having never stayed at a B&B before I wasn't sure what to expect. I should not have been worried. The homeowners, Leon and Marina, were amazing and very concerned with our overall comfort. They also offer tours of the Volcano region and the Big Island in general, and Leon was very helpful in suggesting what else we might want to check out or what the easiest way to get there was. The included breakfast was wonderful as Marina made it to our personal tastes, and the location was perfect - only a 10 minute drive (max) to the Volcano National Park. Can be a little noisy at night (insects singing and local dogs around) but earplugs were provided as well.
Wonderful host... very friendly. The home was super clean. She is well organized. The place was truly at the end of the road. Don't let the dumpy nearby houses scare you off! Her place is fabulous. You won't regret staying here... and we look forward to going back! Aloha!
