We had an awful sleep mattress is old and dipped in the middle not what we needed. We were tired the next day for our family day out..this needs to be looked at

This was up to the expected standard of Holiday Inns. Comfortable, clean and friendly. Nothing out of the ordinary but a very pleasant stay for one night.

Positives: Mostly Friendly Staff. Reasonable spa facilities. Negatives: No lifts (although only 2 floors) and this was not made known. No air-conditioning but there is a fan system. Awake at 4am writing this as can't sleep due to ultra heavy duvet and no way to cool down. Possible training problem as there were issues with charging bills to the room (especially with Expedia customers) which not all customer facing staff appear to be aware off. This lead to unpleasant situations of being chased down for payments after being told all was okay and being made to feel like some petty criminals - even while still staying at the establishment. I'm trying not to be harsh as clearly there is a lot of emphasis made on customer service, but it did seem like ours was not an isolated issue and really put a damper on the whole weekend. Overall, minus our unpleasant episode, given the price point and area, and now you know about the lift and Aircon situation, I would say it's value for money if you decide to try it out.

Staff really friendly. Room clean and convenient. Cannot fault the staff and customer. The pool is showing signs of wear and tear, cracked tiles on the pool floor, this caused grazing on my sons feet. Luckily no broken skin but we found we couldn't relax or enjoy the facilities as much.

Hotel was lovely staff in the spa wasn’t very friendly the jacuzzi was extremely hot and people were getting burnt. The staff in the spa told us it wasn’t working properly but they were still letting people in to use it.

Gave us a disability shower room with a slide door was so hard to close the slide door & im strong ! Terrible sink tap soaked me in cold water & the floor tv remote didnt work properly at least the sheets looked clean .. sparse drinks of tea & coffee & no milk 3 custard creams biscuits coudnt get much cheaper i surpose ! but location good & lots parking & Colchester near by..cant comment on bar or food as only stayed one night

Very quick and easy check in and immediately after entering the room, reception called to ask if we was happy with the room which i thought was nice. Room was very clean and quiet. Reception were very polite. Would definitely stay again.

Needs closing for complete refurbishment. Staff do their best but rooms and corridors very tired. Been painted over (including light switches ). Bar and breakfast area on closer inspection is filthy (dust, food stains and spillages, crumbs don’t cleaned).bed and mattresses uncomfortable. It’s a right dump.

I have stayed in this hotel and found it very comfortable, clean and friendly staff. The only negative comment I have is that it is very dark outside the hotel in the car park. I am in my 70s and had to walk from the top end of the car park to reception. I had to use the light on my phone to see where I was going.
