Vilamoura City Guide

Vilamoura has some of the most beautiful ecological landscapes in Europe. Ria Formosa Nature Reserve is 200 hectares of protected nature land, which attracts birds on their migratory path. Bird watchers can join tours that start in Vilamoura and run along the wetlands and lagoons.
Artificial and Natural Reefs
Vilamoura is among the world’s best spots for snorkelling. You can hire snorkelling gear and enjoy a day in the water, exploring the artificial and natural reefs. Here you’ll have the chance to see anemones, moray eels, sponges and corals.

Vilamoura has two beautiful beaches with fine sand, which stretches for over 3 km alongside the warm, calm waters of the Atlantic Ocean. These are Praia da Falésia, which is located to the west of the marina, and Praia da Marina, which is on the eastern side. Amenities on these beaches include straw-thatched umbrellas, sun-beds with mattresses, heated showers, boat hires and jet-skis. Eating or drinking in one of the beach’s bar-restaurants, get out on the water for some adrenaline fuelled fun, or simply relax under the sun with a good book.
Vilamoura has so much to offer when it comes to food, especially authentic Portuguese cuisine. Your best bet is to head down to the marina and choose one of the beautiful restaurants overlooking the bay.
