We stayed at the Grand Tonic for 3 nights. It was a great experience. We spent most of our time outside the hotel, but we had absolutely no complaints. The room was very clean, the bathroom spacious, and very little noise. Being right on the port is the best!
Stayed here before, in the summer a few years ago. It was excellent so decided to return. Room was good but AirCon was turned off and staff refused to turn it back on. It was over 20degC so much needed. After an argument we were located to a room at back of hotel away from noise of road so could open windows. If AirCon advertised, it should be switched on!

Chose this hotel for my two night stay based on the positive reviews and the location next to Vieux Port. Arriving at the main railway station (Gare Saint Charles), the hotel is easily accessed by metro and is also only a 15 minute walk. The staff were polite, helpful and fully comfortable speaking in English. Room was functional, but also perfectly comfortable. No safe within room, but this wasn't a major concern.
When I checked in the receptionist spontaneously upgraded me to a better room - lovely and spacious, with a partial view of the port. Spotlessly clean. Buffet breakfast was OK but, for 12 euros, more choice would be nice - and croissants and scrambled eggs shouldn't run out, as they did a couple of times.
The staff were friendly and my stay uneventful - until I was about to leave. The previous evening, I'd showered, and the plumbing had gurgled a bit. Dirty water had refluxed back into the bathtub. I told reception, and forgot about it. Next morning, I was about to get up, when there was a tremendous noise from the bathroom. Water came gushing out of the loo. In a very short time, the floor was underwater. I alerted reception who immediately came and cleaned up (the water had stopped pouring, luckily).
They immediately gave me another room, and offered a free breakfast as compensation.
Clearly, this was an exceptional event. But anyone staying in this otherwise fine hotel might be well advised not to leave any personal effects on the floor ...
This hotel is about a 10 min walk from the harbour and has some amazing views from the restaurant and pool / outside seating area. The staff were really lovely and helpful. I shared a room with my daughter who had the sofa bed and although it was a bit springy we put a couple of blankets on it and it was fine. The shower cubicle was a bit tired and had marks on the floor but I think they were due to age rather than cleanliness. We ate in the hotel once and really enjoyed our meal although it was probably a bit more expensive that in the town but that's what I would expect. Restaurant staff were attentive and helpful - we didn't have a burger but they looked very good. It is a good location and I would stay here again.
We, me and my wife, stayed at this hotel for two nights last week. We upgraded our room to get a good view. It was 100 Euro but the view was worth it! The room was good, comfortable as one expects from a luxury hotel. However there are a few shortcomings. The TV set was not great and it was not very responsive. We paid for a few movies to watch but each movie got stuck during playing and the transmission was not smooth. Also there was no toothbrush/toothpaste set and neither there was any shaving set. Other than these small things, we had enjoyed our stay.
Nice view, balcony, big room, easy walking to many historical sites and restaurants. Bus, tram or subway for other places. Excellent linens and towels, tea kettle with tea or coffee. Very comfortable! Staff is friendly and helpful!
