The Huntington Manor is in an excellent location within walking distance of the Royal BC Museum, BC Legislature, and near the harbour. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was good value for the price as it included free breakfast, slippers, and bottled water. That's the good stuff.
When I checked in I specifically requested a room in a quiet end of the hotel as I was on a business trip which meant early to bed (10:00 p.m.) and up at 6:00 a.m. for the 7:00 a.m. breakfast.
I turned off the light at 10:00 p.m. and at 10:05 p.m. the people in the room above arrived. It was not unlike the sounds you might expect from a small herd of elephants. Soon the shower/bath was started and it sounded as if it was in my bathroom! I waited for them to go to bed. That did not happen. I went to the front desk and, politely, explained the situation. They sent up the security. I waited for the results. No change. At 11:00 p.m. I returned to the desk, fully dressed, and packed. I asked for a refund or a new room. They could provide me with neither but would send Security up again. Some time around 11:30 with my head sandwiched between two pillows, I fell asleep. At 1:06 a.m. someone above me decided to have a shower or bath!!!
It was a short night of sleep! I felt like I was staying in a college dorm- there seemed to be a long of young people coming and going. Doors in my hallway opening and closing, voices, etc. Remember also this was a Tuesday night
