Victoria Clipper Getaway from Seattle

Posted 25-Jul-2016
Pros: Location to the Clipper. Friendly staff. Bed and pillows. walking paths nearby. bike rental. comp breakfast. bag check.
Cons: when we checked in, the electric door lock was broken. it took several trips to the front desk to finally get into a room.
Location: great for ferry. easy walk to ogden point seawall and fisherman's wharf. short walk to everything at harbor. everything is close.
Great location if you're traveling by Victoria Clipper. Hotel is literally across the street. Comfortable bed, plenty of pillows. Handy kitchenette. Very nice complimentary breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful. Staff even let us keep our leftovers in their freezer after we checked out but weren't catching the Clipper until that evening. We came back later and they let us use the microwave and silverware. We rented bikes right at the hotel, easy-breezy! Good location for walking around, no need for a car, Victoria is very walkable. (and bike-able) Nice grocery store nearby the hotel as well.

Excellent for the Clipper

Posted 21-Jul-2016
Pros: Location
Cons: Plumbing can be cranky and noisy.
Location: Clipper to Seattle, inner harbor, parliament, etc.
This is a sweet, genteel hotel. A little worn but well kept on wonderful Victorian grounds. Good basic breakfasts are included in an airy open breakfast room looking out on the inner harbor. Literally right across the street from the Clipper office and dock. Staff were attentive and competent and helpful. You can walk to all the major sites - the castle is $8 CD away by taxi. No a/c but we did not miss it in mid-July - the fan worked fine. WiFi and free water. No safe in the room. Relaxed and comfortable.

Location: Right on the harbor. Many restaurants close by. Picturesque.
Very nice room close to the harbor. Just average breakfast. Missed the aircon.

Great hotel with a great location.

Posted 15-Jul-2016
Pros: Location, breakfast, grounds, beds.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Huntingdon. Great location. Easy to walk to everything. The breakfast buffet was good and the staff were very friendly. I really liked their patio and ate breakfast outside. Also noteworthy: the room had two queen beds, not two doubles. Being over six foot, I appreciated that.

Close to downtown

Location: We enjoyed the Bug Zoo (great for kids!) and the Miniatures Museum.
Great location to be close to Canada Day celebrations at the parliament building. Breakfast was not exciting.

Not worth the price!

Posted 13-Jul-2016
Pros: The exterior, lobby, and breakfast room are very pretty. The location is good, as it's close to the parliament building, fisherman's wharf, etc.
Cons: Either reduce the price significantly or upgrade the rooms!
The Huntingdon Manor does not live up to its claim to be a "boutique" hotel. Sure, it has "curb appeal" and its lobby and breakfast room are pretty. But the room was no better than what is generally offered by much more affordable hotels -- the faux heritage wallpaper in the bathroom and the faux wood floor notwithstanding. The room was also in need of some repair (water marks on the ceiling, wardrobe drawers that don't close completely). The reception and breakfast staff were extremely pleasant, but the cleaning staff missed some things. Again, this is pretty typical in more modest hotels. Granted, the location is great, but Victoria is so small and walkable that it's relatively easy to get "downtown" from just about any hotel.

Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at the Huntingdon Manor Hotel. We're sorry to hear your stay with us did not meet your expectations. Our establishment does not recognize itself as a boutique hotel, as we are very aware it is not the case. You may be confusing with the Gatsby Mansion, our heritage Victorian-era building also located on property which does have a "boutique hotel" feel. The Huntingdon Manor Hotel is currently in the process of being renovated, however as it is older, it does take time to do so. The bathrooms are going to be renovated this upcoming fall; please note it was never intended to give a "faux-heritage" appeal to the rooms. We will have our maintenance team look at the room to fix the issues stated in your feedback; thank you for letting us know. Kind regards,

Close to harbour but dated.

Posted 08-Jul-2016
Hotel is close to harbour and relatively clean. The hotel is dated and needs a refresh. The door has about an inch between the door and frame allowing people to see into your room and unlock the bolt on the door. When I mentioned this to the front desk they were indifferent. The water lines hiss anytime someone in an adjoining room uses the water or flushes the toilet. The front desk also tries to get you to pay for another room by saying Canada regs don't allow more than 2 people on a double room. Will not be returning to this hotel.

Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at the Huntingdon Manor Hotel. We are sorry to hear your time with us did not meet your expectations. Thank you for letting us know about the door issues you experienced, we had our maintenance team look at them. We are surprised about your comment regarding our front desk being indifferent to your concerns, as our staff is usually praised for their great customer service. As for room occupancy, it is correct that for security issues, we cannot allow more than 2 guests in a room with only one bed. Kind regards,

Location is great, but ......

Posted 07-Jul-2016
Pros: Best features were the location on the inner harbor and the hot buffet breakfast which is included.
Cons: See above.
Bathroom totally needs updating (floral wallpaper, worn rubber bathmat, worn tile). No air conditioning in room. TV is approx. 20" and you can't even watch it from the lone chair in the corner. Must sit on bed to watch. Room is spacious but extra space not utilized. Needs a small table and ottoman near that lone chair in corner. No waste basket in main room. Beds and bedding were nice and comfortable. Keuirig in room was nice but coffee provided was labeled "African" so we didn't even try it (afraid it would be too strong) and the Keuirig took up most of the small table. Best features were the location on the inner harbor and the hot buffet breakfast which is included, but coffee was horrible. Front desk and housekeeping were great.

Dear Diane, Thank you for sharing your experience at the Huntingdon Manor Hotel. We're happy to hear your enjoyed our great location and complimentary breakfast. In regards to the rooms, we're sorry that they did not quite meet your expectations. We are currently in the process of refurbishing the rooms, but as it is an older building, it does take time to do so. Our bathrooms will be redone in the fall. In regards to the coffee, our Keurig "African" flavour is actually medium strength but it is not stated on the Keurig cup. We appreciate your feedback on the room as it helps us better understand the preferences of our guests. Thank you for staying with us. Kind regards,
