Attentive Staff - Historic Accommodations

Posted 09-Nov-2015
Pros: See above
This Hotel is for guests who prefer an intimate experience in historic surroundings. Beautiful appointments in the lobby and in the original rooms, with Murano chandeliers and frescoes. Do not expect US standard bathrooms and you will need to climb stairs; but if you like to experience historic Venice, this is a wonderful hotel. The staff is terrific, asking to help, make reservations, etc. I would recommend also for proximity to Ca D'Oro vaporetto stop.

Friendly, helpful staff

I felt like an authentic Venetian at this gorgeous, historical hotel. It was difficult for me to locate and I ended up needing to stop and buy a map, and even then I'm not sure I would have found it but for an elderly lady that stopped and actually walked me to where she could point right at it. Once there I felt completely at home. I loved the coffee bar at the breakfast each morning. Cappuccino, Cafe Americano, and a nice selection of breakfast choices was a nice way to start each day. The staff were always happy to chat and give directions and advice. The room was clean and spacious. My only complaint was that the bed was pretty hard, and the bedding was just a sheet, a bedspread, and flat pillows. But that is kind of expected in a lot of European hotels. It did not keep me from collapsing into an immediate sleep after each full day of walking, eating, and getting lost (sometimes getting lost on purpose!) The free in room wi-fi worked great. There was also a computer available that we used for checking in for our return flight home.

Una delusione

Pessima accoglienza, invece della camera prenotata ci siamo trovati in un altra con la finestra sulla portineria al interno, siamo rimasti delusi. Non ritornerei!

Hotel Ca' Vendramin - a Venetian jewel!!!!

Posted 28-Oct-2015 on Hotels
This was a perfect hotel to stay in Venice. It is on one of the islands in Venice. It is tucked away in a side street. But it is still close to a main walking promenade and a vaporetto stop (Ca D'Oro). The rooms are clean and spacious enough for two travelers. Nothing fancy. Bathroom is nice. Just don't rely on their in-room hairdryer - hand dryers in US bathrooms have more power. The continental breakfast is very good with protein choices along with yogurt, bread and sweets. You will be pleasantly surprised. The employees take pride in their hotel and it shows. I would definitely stay here again if I ever get the chance. We decided that staying on the island would be the best use of our very limited time in Venice. We were able to stay out later and see Venice sites at night.

Top marks

We stayed here for 5 nights on our first trip to Venice, it's a bit tucked away but easy to find again when returning from a day of sightseeing. Not too close to all the main tourist areas so it's quiet, but there's a wide range of excellent restaurants near by. Staff were all lovely and very helpful, breakfast simple but great fresh coffee every day. Our 'junior suite' room was quite simply decorated but spotlessly clean, really big and very quiet. Hotel itself is a very impressive building too. Overall had a brilliant trip and will definitely be back.

Good location

Posted 11-Oct-2015
Pros: Convenient location and friendly staff, especially Tilly!
Cons: Some warning of steps leaving hotel would be helpful.
Location: Close to Strade Nuovo for shops and restaurants, also vaporetto stop and easy walk to station.
Convenient for station and local shops and restaurants, set alongside a small canal, very quiet. Friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast.

Very pleasant!

My brother and I only stayed for a night, since we had a short trip. The hotel was quite lovely and everyone on staff that we interacted with was very helpful with suggestions on where to eat and how to get around. We checked in quite late, and not sure why, but upgraded to a Junior Suite which was very spacious and very clean. The hotel had a historical feel to it, but updated with modern conveniences. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and I really loved the coffee! The room keys are very heavy, so it's very nice that they offer to hold it for you while you are out exploring, and there was someone always at the desk in case you needed anything. There were quite a few restaurants in the area and it was easy to get around - it only took us about 15-20 minutes to walk everywhere we wanted to see. We traveled to and from the train station and it was about a 10 minute walk, which was hard dragging suitcases through the streets and the older roads, but that's Venice, and we made it work!
