Wonderful experience! The room was Spartan without central air, a television or a fan but the location, the view and the staff more than made up for it. The view from the restaurant's balcony is fantastic. Looking out, the first thing you see is the menagerie of buildings that, in part, give Valparaiso it's personality surrounding the hotel including the Ascensor Reina. Beyond the buildings you can see the deep blue of the bay. That gives way to the opposite shore with mountains providing a beautiful back drop. If you time it right, you can watch the moon climb out from behind the mountains. It is both romantic and beautiful. Next, the staff is extremely helpful and attentive. We ate breakfast there daily and dinner at least 3 times. The food was fresh and excellent! We never felt rushed and the staff took great care to ensure we were pleased. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here and look forward to coming back.
This hotel is a great location to the Concepcion Funicular and the amazing neighborhood it connects. Staff was friendly, helpful and very willing to do what it took to make us happy.
Unfortunately our 5th floor room faced a very bus street and street noise was constant thru out the day and night. If we stayed here again we would request a room not on the street side.
Breakfast was excellent and was included, pleasant surprise.
We really enjoyed our stay here at Zero Hotel. We booked it last minute so we got a really good rate. The rooms were really nice, a lot of character and a really good view. I don't know why this hotel isn't rated higher? Perhaps it is the price relative to what you get. The breakfast was somewhat lacking with buffet service, but not bad. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

It has a great location, but the construction is very old. This said it is very noisy. It is a hostel, so expect young people. The kitchen is small, but more than enough for any type of cooking. It has a great "game room" in the lobby with puzzles, games, books and a vintage jukebox. We had trouble with the hot water, but apparently they were just switching to a new system and wasn't quite ready yet. Overall it was an O.K. place to stay and would stay there again.
We were hesitant about picking a hotel that we knew nothing about but really lucked out on this one. It is a very clean, modern hotel in the heart of Valparaiso, within walking distance of many shops, excellent restaurants, Plaza Victoria, etc. The hotel staff went out of their way to help us with everything from currency problems, arranging a ride to the Santiago airport, to figuring out how to use the @ key on the computer keyboard. In fact, several members of the desk staff were fluent in English which was a necessity for us, since we speak no Spanish. The restaurant in the hotel is actually very good and serves a great buffet breakfast. The hotel is also very close to a bus stop which made a trip to Vina del Mar quite easy. My only complaints are the graffiti everywhere, which seems to be a South America problem, and the fact that the pool and gym are quite small.

Valparaiso is modest, but proud: The historic zone, with its gaily painted colonial buildings, is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Valparaiso is also known for its port and its dramatic terrain. Built on a series of steep hills that hug the sea, some parts of town are accessible only by funicular. Other attractions include poet Pablo Neruda's home, La Sebastiana, and the Chilean National Congress.
