Felt Like Home
A fun family owned and operated property where you are treated like family. Breakfast is basic and straightforward however the dinners are home cooked by the owners and are excellent. No menu but different every night. Ten minute walk to Randa train station.

A GREAT inexpensive way to enjoy this overpriced area. Staff awesome in recommending the taxi to Zermatt. The dinner was pricey, but ohhhhhh so good, and we were compelled to photograph each course! Family run, the owners were excellent cooks and entertainers.

Great place, amazing hosts!
We stayed one night on our way to Zermatt, and it was a great stay. The owners (Maurizio and Malena) are real gentlemen, warm and ready to help. We arrived late, and Maurizio prepared for us anyway a five star dinner that he brought to our room! Really unique. The room was clean and comfortable. So, overall, great. A couple of things: food is not cheap (but hey, it is Switzerland! And it was real chef cuisine!), and the parking (if you leave your car there), is not free, but still cheaper than other options.

The hosts of the hotel were very friendly and although booking through Expedia and Reseller was filled with problems/errors on the platform’s side, host were nice enough to explain and clear up everything. Breakfast and stay at the hotel was great for two nights. A 800m walk to Randa station. Hotel does provide taxi shuttle to zermatt. May stay again but will not book through expedia.

Lovely little hotel 3km away from the Täsch train terminal to Zermatt. Beautiful location down in the valley with an awesome view to wake up to. Check in was easy even though we arrived after the front desk had closed. Would recommend to anyone looking to make their way up to Zermatt/the Matterhorn.

Comfortable stay near Zermatt & other great hikes
We had a great stay at the Matterhorn Golf Hotel - the location is great for visiting the hot spots in the area, the room was comfortable, and the host was helpful and welcoming (and spoke english).

The place itself was nice and the room was clean with lovely colours etc. but the owner is incredibly abrasive and the internet is garbage.

You've got what you you've paid! Why you made a booking just for a bed room, economy, without private Wifi, breakfast, dinner, shuttle service and more, when you was searching for comforts and services. Next time like to book a good quality room with all services that you need!

Room was a good price but lots of hidden fees. Comfortable though. WiFi doesn't work unless you pay extra for it. Parking is not free. Dinner was cold and overpriced. Made the mistake of reviewing the property before we checked out. Rather than try to make things right I was insulted by the owner who just tried to justify the problems. Would not stay there again. Would rather pay more and have a better experience with less hidden fees somewhere else.

You've got what you you've paid! Next time like to book a good quality room with all services that you need! Why do travelers write bad reviews? - When are full of interior problems; - When do not have enough money to enjoy the holidays; - When travelling in expensive countries without any cognition where they are; All of these issues raise the stress level and the hotel cannot help you when you are not a cooperative and friendly guest. We provide our best service and the best possible price and we like to be as friends with our guests, but of course we need money to pay our bills, the banks, the taxes and our staff. Errors are possible but we are here to arrange the right solutions! Thanks a lot MGH

Staff is nice. hotel location is not good.
The hotel is not in Zermatt. When we searched the hotels in Zermatt, hotels.com also listed this hotel. We did not notice it until we booked the hotel. You need to take train to Zermatt. But not far from Zermatt by taking the train. The hotel is pretty far from the local train station by walking, especially when you have luggage.

A must stay
A gem of a hotel, and the restaurant La Tana was even better. We had some travel delays and were late getting checked in, yet despite being about five minutes from restaurant closing, they served us one of the best Italian meals! Great hospitality, great food and wonderful staff! Thank you!

No late check in. Had to sleep in my car.
I couldn't stay at the hotel because they wouldn't let me check in late. After 18 hours of travel (from California) I had to sleep in my car in the parking garage in Tasch instead.

If you're not here for golf, not a great choice
It is a charming small hotel ran by an Italian family. I personally think it's more of a B&B than a hotel, although it has a bar and a restaurant. The people are nice and friendly, though Maurizio (if I remember the name correctly) can be pushy. Meals are in Italian fashion - primi & secondi piatti - meaning you have to get two mains. It can be too much. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere in a very small town with no commercial services other than hotels. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the Randa train station. If you arrive when it is dark, there will be no instructions, signs, and probably no one to ask for directions. Calling the hotel for help is a hit and miss as well. The upside of all this is that the place is incredibly quiet. Depending on other guests, you will probably hear nothing. In my case, I could only hear the hum of the refrigerator. The hotel's low price attracts budget conscious travellers, you can interpret yourself what that means. The hotel slaps on a lot of extra charges outside of city tax, so check in advance what your total charge is.

Tourist trap with poor and low quality services
My husband and I had the worst experience at this hotel. We wanted to go skiing in Zermatt, and since no cars are allowed there, we decided to stay either at Tasch or Randa. We narrowed down to this hotel because of the price, and we got a standard double room with dinner, wifi, and parking for one night. Few things to note: It costs ~58 CHF for two one-way train tickets from Randa to Zermatt. If you don't already have a Swiss Pass or the Zermatt ski pass including ride to Tasch/Randa, remember to take those costs into consideration when comparing hotels. As for the hotel, what is marketed on the hotel's website/hotels.com/TripAdvisor differed greatly from reality. For example: - The hotel heavily advertised their TripAdvisor best restaurant award both on their Facebook page & TripAdvisor. DO NOT GET FOOLED. The 3-course dinner we paid extra for was merely a microwavable frozen lasagna dinner, stalled salad, and supermarket dessert. The waitress at the restaurant looked like she was on drugs, and back street boys was blasting in the background. Breakfast: Unacceptable. The only thing that my husband and I could eat was bread with butter. The rest of the so-called buffet breakfast was composed of an assortment of canned fruits and leftover sweet tarts from dinner. Internet: Very slow, almost not working.

Enjoyed my stay at the matterhorn golf however it is in the middle of absolutely no where. The closest train station is randa... about a 10/11min walk and it is 2 stations away from zermatt (where you'd want to be) which can end up being expensive having to travel back and forth. The hotel itself was a comfortable stay and very lovely staff (assuming its run by family)

Tiny Room, HUGE meal.
Our room was tiny, the bathroom probably the smallest three piece I have ever showered in, about the same size as the ferry from Sydney Nova Scotia to Newfoundland. The room was really too small for skiing, as we have gear! Location was easy to get to the train to ski in Zermatt. Parking at the train station was easier than suggested by the hotel staff and the shuttle was more expensive than the parking. . We had a sensational meal on our first night but there was too much food! There was no option for a salad and an appetizer so we ended up with a huge salad, a delightful entre, schnapps, desert, and a carniverous coma! Great value, but too much food! ! ! ! We went back into town for raclette the second night. All told it was good value.

Fun hotel experience convenient to Zermatt
We had a great time! at Matterhorn Golf Hotel. I had 2 rooms, one for me and one for my daughter. They were spotlessly clean and fully equipped with a wonderful showers, coffee and coffee makers, tea, etc. Maurizio and Eleanor run a top notch hotel and their staff was very attentive. We were scheduled to go to Zermatt (which is a 10 minute train ride away) for dinner but cancelled after our first meal at Matterhorn as the food was very good. We were there for their special New Years Eve extravaganza with fireworks and it just could not have been more perfect. I felt that the fees overall were very reasonable. It was also easy to meet other guests and was not crazy and stuck uptake way it can be in Zermatt.

Great Hosts
We stayed for one night in 2012 and said that we would return as we enjoyed our stay so much. The owners Maurizio and Elena are so welcoming. The evenings in their restaurant are lively and very friendly. The food is excellent. We stayed this time for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks very much Elena and Maurizio for helping to make our 35th wedding anniversary celebrations such fun.

Great views with quiet and peace
It was value for money and a cozy place to stay although it is about 20 minutes away from the city center of Zermatt which in my opinion is better as I don't have to deal with the swarm of tourists.

Treasure in Switzerland
This small hotel was perfect. We were lucky enough to be there for the last night before they closed for a vacation. We enjoyed a most memorable, delicious meal that we are still raving about! You must stay at the Hotel Matterhorn!

Very pleasant surprise, it was excellent. We were later getting in and the key was left for us at the desk. Ten minute walk from train station.

Good for an overnight stay; otherwise skip it.
The overall location, condition and comfort of this hotel was satisfactory. Located 5 minutes' walk from Randa, it is quite convenient to get to the railway station. Basic amenities were provided, and the establishment itself was clean and neat. The food served at the restaurant is truly delicious, but beware of being caught using your mobile phone at the table, if even to connect with family and friends back home. We sure did not expect that to be frowned upon. While the food was really good as mentioned earlier, the experience was rather spoilt by how we were treated. Give the restaurant a miss if you like eating AND doing anything during that may give the owners the impression you're not listening to their music or enjoying their food or eating it in the correct way. Wifi is also not working properly and on the rare occasion that you can connect to it, the speed is slow.
