Incredible house reef and resort
"Everything at the resort surpassed our expectation. We stayed in one of the over-water sunrise rooms and snorkeled off our back deck 3 times per day. Massive schools of fish, nurse sharks, sting rays all within 30 feet of our room. We also took a separate snorkel trip to a nearby island which was also spectacular.
The room, bathroom and the completely-private-deck were all huge. We also checked out the other beachside rooms which also looked great.
Meals and service in the main restaurant and the two specialty restaurants were fantastic. The general manager meets each arrival group and also stopped by to talk/check in periodically during our stay.
Don't be put off by the need to take a sea plane to reach the resort. While it's an added cost, it was a great part of the overall experience - flying over the many atolls on the trip in and out was gorgeous and added an adventure/remoteness element. The beach cruiser bikes that come with each room also added to the fun.
Lastly we thought the staff was terrific. Just the right mix of providing all the attention needed without being intrusive. We felt very fortunate to have chosen the Fairmont."

5/5 Excellent
"My 21-day stay at Nolhi Escape in January was a delightful experience. My room was large, well air-conditioned and comfortable and the staff cleaned it whenever I asked. There is plenty of hot water, the guesthouse has a lush garden and is quiet (you can hear the prayers from a nearby mosque five times a day, but they never woke me).
Nolhivaranfaru, the small island on which Nolhi Escape is located, isn't the place for someone seeking a resort experience -- there are few tourists, no large resorts, water huts, slides, adventure parks, etc. -- but it is a safe, serene, hospitable place that is virtually untouched by development other than the small homes of the residents, who mostly live by fishing and farming. Nature surrounds you on the island.
Nolhi Escape is just steps (about 2 minutes) from the island's beautiful uncrowded white sand beach with its warm turquoise waters.
The staff of Nolhi Escape -- Sobah and Ali -- will do all they can to ensure that your stay is perfect. Ali is an amazing chef, who will cook to your preference. The meals he prepares are plentiful, delicious and healthy.
The guesthouse provided me with a bicycle, and it was a delight to bike around the small island meeting the residents, who were all welcoming. There are a few small stores where you can stop for a canned mocha latte or other drink and a snack and a few small cafes.
I left Nolhi Escape refreshed and knowing I would return. "
