The hotel itself is worthy of its five stars: The lobby is large and welcoming, the rooftop pool and spa/sauna are appropriate. However, the devil in this class is in the details:
- The towels in the rooms are super thin and not very soft. They are the same sort of towels you would get at a budget hotel.
- Even though we were two people staying in the room, they only provided us with one set of shampoo, shower gel, etc. With a day spent hiking and at the spa you clearly run out quickly and we shouldn't have had to ask for more.
- The hotel states that "In the afternoon we invite you to tee/coffee and cake in the lobby." When we got to the lobby, we found out it's €5.50.
- The staff is not very accommodating. When we arrived we had to (!) provide our birth dates. The staff claimed this was a legal requirement even though on the data protection sheet it stated that only name and address were mandatory. When I prodded further, they explained that they like to do a little something if it's someone's birthday. "Great!" I proclaimed because I had booked the trip as a surprise birthday gift for my girlfriend. The staff however told me that they couldn't do anything because my girlfriend's birthday was three days (!) before our arrival date. Again, for a five-star hotel I would have expected more.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't go again and I can't recommend the place. The building itself is nice, clean, and modern but the staff and the lack of attention to detail brings it down.
