Top notch hotel, with a curteous, and efficient staff. Our room was everything you would hope for, worth far more than the rates they charge. The location also puts nice leisurely walks right at your doorstep. We would definitely recommend them to our closest family and friends.
Only drawback is open atrium with rooms facing on to it and noise from lobby which is loud carries up through the building. Although once in your room it's not too bad. Otherwise everything was very good and extremely convenient.
Grand Boutique hotel is simply gorgeous! It's a step back in time when you enter the gates of the hotel! It is a renovated mansion house of a former wealthy banker in Bucharest. The rooms are lovely, clean & comfortable. The staff was very friendly & professional, the breakfast was delicious and the dinner was very good as well.
Unfortunately the location is not the most beautiful. There are many old and decaying buildings in this neighbourhood and the streets are crowed with garbage and cars. This is not so much the fault of the hotel in any way, but of Bucharest itself. The city has to do a lot of work to clean up the streets and repair the beautiful old buildings which are sadly crumbling.
The hotel is walking distance to the main sites though and I was a solo female walking every where. I felt safe in spite of the neighbourhood's appearance. I would not hesitate to stay here again and recommend it to other travelers looking to add Bucharest to their list of travel destinations.
We stayed in room 405 which has the biggest balcony I've ever seen; must be lovely to sit out on during the warm weather. The room itself was well proportioned, clean and nicely designed. Staff were friendly and the continental breakfast plentiful.
It was only a 10 minute walk up to University Square and there's also great restaurant (Nesam 2) at the top of the road, plus a supermarket right across the street.
We would stay again.
University Square is home to an interesting mix of green areas, vibrant squares, and educational and cultural institutions. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the picturesque Cismigiu Garden or visit Revolution Square, home to the former Royal Palace and now housing the Romanian National Art Museum. Sidewalk book merchants and florists add to the area’s interesting vibe.
