The actual Vichy springs are amazing!

Posted 03-Aug-2015
Pros: The Vichy springs are incredible. Fun experience - and you really do feel better after a day of soaking off and on. The pool is also fantastic.
Cons: The mattresses and the bedding. Really uncomfortable. The staff may do well in taking a customer service class or two.
Location: The location is remote, but that's the beauty of it. The shooting range next door does but a damper on the serene atmosphere however.
Love the actual springs, the land, the pool. What's disappointing is the hotel staff, the beds (very uncomfortable) and the breakfast - abundant on sugar - low on healthy. We're thinking this might be a great place for a day pass and then find a cozy hotel nearby. There are amazing restaurants in downtown. Farm to table

Beautiful oasis in northern California

Posted 18-Jun-2015
Pros: Everything. We are going back in August for a few days
Location: Ukiah is the county seat of Mendocino. The Sun House is a great museum. There are many excellent wineries for wine tasting.
We had wonderful stay - hiking, swimming in a gorgeous pool, soaking in mineral baths - and all this close to the town of Ukiah

The hotel was nice, room was clean, but very outdated, no TV. The breakfast was very good, great veriaty of fresh fruits, spa rates are super pricy.

Do not expect to be treated as a customer

Posted 15-Jul-2014
Pros: Nature, Location
Cons: Attitude of front desk staff Treating you with respect Avoid constant confrontation Honor your commitment, admit your mistakes
Location: Ukiah is nestled in the wine country. There are plenty of wineries around to visit. A short drive through the red wood forests and you're on the coast
The good: - Nestled into beautiful nature. - Grounds are well kept and very serene. - Pool is a nice addition on a hot summer day. The bad: - Gun range one block away, nature sounds are met with gunfire - Rooms are very small. A room with queen bed just barely fits - The natural springs tubs are very out of date. Basically concrete blocks from decades ago that are covered in rust and not rinsed out on a regular basis. The springs and the tubs have tons of potential, but instead are being let go. You're taking a bath in left over oils and lotions from previous guests. - Mosquitos - this was a huge nuisance while we were there. You can't go anywhere without a swarm following you. Every time you open your room door, you'll let in some mosquitos requiring you to wear insect repellent even at night. The ugly: - The staff is where things get ugly. There is an incredible hostility towards the guests. We overheard several guests having confrontation with one specific staff lady. And we were met with the same hostility. - Smoking - the ash trays are right outside the hotel rooms. Pretty disgusting, welcome Vegas 1970 - If you're disabled, be expected to be questioned about your disability rather than accommodated - Would not honor their rate on expedia.com, rate changed upon arrival - Overcharged us, and according to other visible confrontations, other guests too

You owe yourself this one

Posted 16-Oct-2012
Pros: Loved the general ambience, knowledgable and friendly staff
Cons: Hated having to leave
Location: Unspoiled California back country, but only 3 miles off Hwy 101
Everything in the brochures is spot on. It's a charming walk into the past with 150-year old soaking tubs and the magical Vichy water. The rooms are charming and the surroundings are quiet and unspoiled. We had a terrific hike, enjoyed the waters of the baths, the hot tub and the swimming pool. There was great atmosphere at the hot tub in the evening with wine and pleasant conversations among the guests. The complimentary breakfast was great. I rate the place 5 stars, but that still doesn't fully capture the experience.

Rejuvenating nature retreat

Posted 30-Aug-2012
Lovely quaint hotel with lots of hiking and nature to soak up. Saw wild turkeys and deer too. The baths are rejuvenating and the pool is relaxing. No tv, so bring a book :)

More rustic than described

The hotel is more rustic than described and the breakfast was not up to expectations. Very pricy for what was offered.
