The best area to stay in Udae is the Hanok Village, which is the historical and cultural heart of the city. This neighbourhood is characterised by its traditional Korean houses, known as hanok, with their distinctive curved roofs and wooden structures. The main thoroughfares, such as Taejo-ro, are pedestrian-friendly and lined with craft shops, tea houses, and eateries. It's a compact area, making it very walkable, and many of the hanok have been converted into guesthouses, offering a unique stay.Couples often find the Hanok Village particularly appealing for a romantic getaway. Strolling hand-in-hand through the narrow alleys, visiting the Gyeonggijeon Shrine, or enjoying a traditional tea ceremony creates a memorable experience. The village offers a quiet escape from the bustle of city life, especially in the evenings when the lanterns illuminate the streets. For those looking for a blend of tradition and modern convenience, the area just outside the Hanok Village, particularly around the Jeonju Gaeksa Guesthouse, is a good option. This district provides easy access to the village's attractions while also being closer to more contemporary shops, restaurants, and public transport links.
