This is a great base in a great city, a few minutes from the train station and an easy walk, over the lovely park that it's next to, to the bus station or city centre. The owners and staff are friendly, all strong characters, and very helpful.
We had a large and very striking room that we never felt cooped up in. The excellent breakfasts set us up for each day in and around Turku.
The hotel is a large Art Nouveau house, set in gardens, with antique furnishings and playful decor. There's a whistling parrot too. It's a strongly individual hotel for guests who appreciate individual care and a vibrant environment. We had a wonderful 8 day stay.
We took advantage of Turku's many excellent good value lunches and ate at the table in our room most evenings. There's a supermarket just around the corner and the main shopping streets are just a few blocks away. The art museum is in the adjacent park and the other museums are in easy reach. The tourist information in Turku is very helpful. We had a great 8 days, mixing trips to the archipelago with days in the city.
