Book a room in a design hotel in Turin’s historic centre and you'll have easy access to several cultural attractions. Head to the ornate Mole Antonelliana – once the highest stone building in Europe – to explore the National Cinema Museum. Or visit the Sandretto Foundation, a sprawling contemporary art gallery in a former hangar in the San Paolo district. Instead of guided tours it offers 'art mediation', which encourages dialogue and personal interpretation.
The urban Lingotto district was home to Fiat's original car factory, famous for its rooftop race track. The factory closed down in 1982 and was transformed into Lingotto Fiera, a buzzing mixed-use development featuring hotels, a shopping mall and art galleries. Car fans will enjoy roaming around the modern National Car Museum, home to a wide range of stylish modern and vintage vehicles. For fine food connoisseurs there’s Eataly, a sprawling Italian food emporium where you can sample and purchase some of Piedmont's finest produce.
