Didn't realise when we booked that this is mainly used by people on coach tours staying 1 or 2 nights. Breakfast got a bit boring after a couple of days - continental only, but with boiled eggs as extra.
Rooms were clean enough, and have to say the bed was very comfy.
The staff were the best thing - very friendly and helpful, always happy and smiling - they were great.
The walk from the hotel is pretty dangerous, but the view from our balcony made up for that! You have to book a lake view!
Underground parking was a godsend too.
Overall, a decent enough hotel for a short break.

La Perla was a wonderful experience for us in Lake Como. The hotel itself is lovely, clean and well maintained. The breakfasts were amazing! Location is ideal to travel to all the Lake Como spots. Last but not least, the staff at La Perla are the nicest, friendliest, most helpful people we have met in Italy. We recommend this hotel heartily. Top marks!!

Wonderful evening in this lovely hotel with friendly and accommodating staff. We had our exceptional meal sat on the balcony above the lapping gentle waves of the lake. The only downside was having to leave.

The hotel is located right on the lake como, a few minutes away from villa carlotta and cadenabbia ( car ferry for bellagio ) , 5 km away from lenno ( villa balbianello ) and menaggio( car ferry to varenna) . You can walk theough the lake , which is not easy at the other villages of como. The hotel has a restaurant on the lake which is great. The rooms are old fashioned, with lake view, no air condition - not necessary in june, but we felt comfortable overall. Breakfast was ok, i recommend this hotel if you wanna stay in a good location with lake view but do not wanna pay so much for a stay.

"Amazing hotel in a fabulous location - AMAZING!!!"
We arrived in the pouring rain but even this could not dampen our spirits in regard to Lake Como and the Grand Hotel Tremezzo. The hotel is grand, welcoming and everything I could have hoped for and I am a very fussy individual who is not easily pleased! All the restaurants look out on Lake Como as does the Spa Area. They even have a relaxation room with 4 large round day beds which overlooks the lake which was perfect for reading in when one morning it was pouring down with rain.
The staff are helpful the rooms are great. We had a park facing room which was nice and had a nice view over one of the pools, although next time I will pay the extra for a lake facing room as the views are breath taking and the rooms are even lighter and brighter.
Food in the hotel is pricey but this is what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. We had lunch in the hotel a couple of times but apart from the veal which was delicious, the risotto, Caesar salad and pasta dishes were nothing to write home about.
The dining room however, was a different story. We had two amazing meals there, the pumpkin soup and crayfish pasta were amazing, the Beef was good too but could have done with some green beans to accompany it. However, the crowning glory was the crepe suzette. It was the best one I have ever eaten and I have eaten a lot over the years!
Overall I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone, it is not cheap but is sooooooo worth the money.
Exceptional young man who showed us our place and even helped us to get cash for parking. The place was incredible: a spacious apartment with stunning Lake Como views from the private porch (5 doors to enter onto), a lovely garden behind, and a beautiful church next door. Right across from the boat to Bellagio, and a quick drive to other small towns with great food, the known villas, etc. Loved our stay!
Glamorous villas and hotels abound near Tremezzo, but all pale into insignificance beside the splendid Villa Carlotta. Built between 1690 and 1743 for a wealthy Milanese banker, it was named after its last private owner, a Prussian princess. The extravagant interior is noted for its art, including Canova’s sculpture of Cupid & Psyche. The gardens are best in late spring when the azaleas and rhododendrons are in bloom.
