Anantara Si Kao provided a wonderful week for our family of 5. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast every morning and loved going to the beach/pool. Had a fun adventure visiting the nearby cave (via boat ride) and snorkeling (thanks to Mr. Bunty!). Kids loved the kids' center so much that they asked to go every afternoon (ages 5,7). The location is quite remote, so there aren't many options for dining other than on property. Highly recommend Anantara Si Kao.
We stayed here for 5 nights in April 2016. The resort is situated in a beautiful situation. Beautiful sand, sea. The resort is well laid out -- two or three bungalows wide rows -- but long! The grounds are well maintained. The staff are very friendly and efficient.
Depending on where your bungalow is you could be a 5-minute walk to the Reception and dining area.
Breakfast was excellent (for us). The bungalows are well equipped and cleaned extremely well. The swimming-pools were clean and good. We were very well pleased with our accommodation.
However, we were with my son, his wife and two children who had booked and paid for a family room with two extra beds but this presented a problem as the Resort had only been given a booking for one child; although their printed copy of the booking acknowledgement clearly confirmed this booking it took over two hours of long-distance telephone calls (which resulted in nothing) and some quite heated discussion in Reception with the Manager before they were eventually given a second extra bed. NB: there are NO Family Rooms -- all the cabins are exactly the same size so be aware of this.
It's an island so expect food and drink prices to be expensive -- with an added service charge plus VAT on top! Trips and transfers can be arranged at the Resort but if you are on a budget walk to the town and turn right towards the pier and you will find Mr Yong's 'shop' -- which is far cheaper and we found very reliable. Likewise with any laundry: exp
Upon arrival the hotel didn't have the room that we requested via telephone call direct to the hotel. The room that we should have received was already occupied for one day. After complaining the hotel offered to give us the originally requested room the next day. What was a bit disturbing was that the room they gave us upon check-in was smaller than the original room request. Other than that the swimming pool closed too early at 7:00 pm. The hotel management should consider closing the pool later than what they are now. The hotel is nice except for the two things already mentioned.
For the money, this hotel is top notch. Best beach in Thailand.
The restaurant is very good, and well priced.
Very well run resort. Seafood buffet is worth dining. My only suggestion is to drop the price of a glass of wine. Two ounces for 200 B. Or, better yet, bring your own to the island.
Overall, a "ten".
The resort is nice and small and very private. We stayed in a front villas which are located almost on the beach.
There is not much to do on the island so is a perfect place to relax and forget about everything.
The resort food is reasonably priced and is very tasty and good quality.
The breakfast is a buffet style but on our last few days there were not many guests but we could order from the card same options as the buffet.
Trang encompasses an area with a 193-kilometer (120-mile) coastline, as well as 47 islands from the lower Andaman Sea to the Straits of Malacca. Unlike nearby Phuket or Krabi, Trang has been spared from mass development and there is an abundance of forests, beaches, caves, and waterfalls. In fact, two-thirds of the province has been designated a national parkland.
