This is a wonderful location and hotel for exploring Bamberg, Altenburg, and beyond. Very convenient free parking, great Franconia cuisine, and relaxing garden. Walking distance to great trails and nature. The owner and staff are welcoming and attentive, and the rooms are very comfortable. They have been blessed by a returning Stork in Spring as well!

Wonderful hotel Great historic home that is a super hotel. Staff is family and very friendly We arrived a little late and they were very accommodating. Swimming pool is very nice. Nice private courtyard. Highly recommend. Sam Austin Texas

Very clean, great parking, many nearby attractions, great breakfast for 7 euros, location was perfect for driving around the countryside to see sights. Wifi was stable and fast, several nearby restaurants to get food as well.

Good value for money
It’s difficult to fault der Krug as a 3 star hotel. The owners and staff were very friendly and food very good. If we had to be picky we would say the room was very small - as was the shower. The sauna was also unfortunately not working during our two-night stay. Great location to explore Bamberg from however and for the price, we felt quite satisfied. Beautifully decorated for Christmas and obviously popular with the locals too.

I was making the 6 hour drive to Bamberg, Germany when I was called by hotel staff 3 times about my check-in time. I had requested late check in and their message was that was their day off so no one would be at the property for checking after 5pm.

nice decor, very clean, nice breakfast buffet in morning. friendly staff. quaint little town. you can take a bus into bamberg (though it runs infrequently) or walk--it's about 5 km.

Just right!
We chose Der Krug as we wanted to visit nearby Bamberg. Der Krug is comveniently located for Bamberg by car and also well served by public transport. The room was clean with all the usual facilities. The hotel owner and staff add lots of little extras, notes with advice on walking routes, local produce to purchase etc. Although we didn’t use them the hotel does also offer free use of an onsite swimming pool and sauna. Breakfast was of a very high standard, with a wide range of healthy options.

Comfortable hotel within an easy distance to Bamberg. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and check-in was quick and efficient. We enjoyed a meal in the outdoor restaurant and they seem to take great pride in the food that they prepare with homemade jams available for purchase. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a place in this area. Although not overly fancy, it is definitely well managed and reasonably priced.
