We stayed at Oceania L'Univers Tours for a few days while touring the chateaux of the Loire Valley. The sitting room and bedroom were large and lovely, and the jetted tub and shower were great. The décor was quite modern, in contrast to the decidedly 19th century public areas. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The most memorable aspect of our stay, though, was our interaction with Carol at the reception desk. She was so helpful and pleasant, no matter how many guests she was helping, and it made our visit much more pleasant. All of the other staff that we had contact with were uniformly pleasant and attentive.
We took a taxi from the train station, not knowing that the main tram line would have been cheaper and more direct. The hotel is located on a large property away from noise, and there is a tram station just two blocks from the hotel. The rooms we had in the old building were large, well decorated and fully equipped. The bathroom was modern, large and exceptionally clean. We ate two meals in the hotel dining room, and they were excellent and not overly expensive. We would recommend this hotel highly. It deserves its four stars.

Le Grand Hotel Tours is a once-grand hotel that is showing its age. It has charm, a terrific location, and a competent, resourceful staff. We used the hotel as a base for visiting the many chateaus and other historic locations in the Loire Valley and it worked for us in that role. They were offering a discounted breakfast option ($10 vs. $13 normally) which was a very good value. Easy walking to Tours restaurant district, where places stayed open late, was convenient after returning from a day of sight-seeing.
One downside: the wi-fi is terrible. It is inconvenient, since you have to get a separate log-in for each device you wish to connect every 24 hours. Once connected, your connection can be dropped at any moment. I had more trouble with my Apple devices (iPhone and iPad) than my husband did with his Samsung Galaxy phone and laptop. The hotel staff are aware of this and said that they have asked the owners to improve the service.
We wanted a convenient hotel travelling from Spain and this hotel fitted well. Staff were very pleasant on arrival and the room was excellent in terms of size and facilities. Nice to see a separate WC separate from the bathroom. Only adverse comment was that the Steak I had at the evening meal was on the tough side but otherwise a good meal choice for evening and breakfast.
Hotel clean, quiet and comfortable close to railway station and about 15 minutes from the old town.
Rooms of reasonable size and beds comfortable. Had problems with hot water supply but that was quickly corrected by the staff. A number of reasonably priced restaurants in the area. Hotel supplied map with their location. Breakfast was a reasonable buffet style with good selection of cold foods. Hot food limited to scrambled egg with sausage/r lardens
Underground car park tight if have more than a Focus/Golf sized car
Pleasantly decorated celebrating concentrating on film star style

Our room was the basic double which was very well appointed with a comfortable bed. The decor was a Mixture of old blended with new which could have been more sympathetic to the original. We had the express breakfast for 6.5 euros each which was adequate.

Standing on the banks for the River Loire, Tours is the capital city of Indre-et-Loire, lauded for the perfection of its inhabitants' spoken French. The city is also known as the home to Cathedral St. Gatien, an enchanting sight when lit up in the night sky. Visitors can cycle along the untamed river and experience the varied landscape at the heart of the Loire Valley.
