Good location, but so gross

Posted 20-Apr-2017
The location was great, in terms of proximity to attractions. I was thoroughly disgusted by the cleanliness of the room though. The shower was so mouldy and mildewy I wouldn't even use it. I would never subject my own house guests to that, let alone paying customers. When I mentioned it to the desk clerk upon checking out (unfortunately I didn't notice until late at night and was in no position to switch rooms) she just told me she'd let the housekeeping know. Thank you?

Great value in a vibrant area

Posted 08-Apr-2017
Pros: Good staff, welcome gifts for our dog, nice big room, comfortable bed.
Cons: The bathroom could have been cleaner.
Location: Close to the AGO, OCADU, Queen Street, Kensington Market. There's a TTC stop right outside the door to catch the new articulated streetcar/LRT.
Our first stay and we will definitely come again. The location is great -- close to downtown and right on Spadina Avenue in the middle of everything, especially cool restaurants and takeout food joints. Even though our room looked right over Spadina, it was really quiet and we had an excellent night's sleep.

It was just ok

Posted 08-Apr-2017
If you need a place to stay in downtown Toronto and not expecting to stay in the room this is perfect. Everything about this place was OK. Nothing fancy, but it is a super 8! It was clean and not smelly If you don't usually bring your own pillow I would suggest you do. The jacuzzi tub was big enough for one person so don't get your hopes up. Bathroom was clean but faucet was not secured to counter and toilet got plugged after going number 1. Breakfast was meh, plain and whole wheat bagels and a waffle machine with just table syrup. No baked pastries ie danish, croissants. Front desk staff were not very welcoming and upon check out were unpleasant. We didn't even get a "hope you enjoyed your stay" it was more like "there's the door".

Bedbugs

Posted 08-Apr-2017
My family and I stayed in this hotel on April 2, 2017 to April 4, 2017 there were bedbugs. The beds were also very uncomfortable. The lobby and elevator had a fishy smell. The breakfast wasn't what we were expecting. The hotel is located close to the CN Tower, Rogers Center and ACC which is good. But I would no recommend staying here.

Lobby needs to be moved to ground floor

Posted 13-Mar-2017
Pros: Our room had the convenience of a microwave and small fridge. The room was clean and it looked like it was recently renovated.
Cons: Ground level needs to be secured for hotel guest safety. Perhaps, swipe cards like other hotels offer. Should not be open for the general public.
Location: We liked the fact there was local transportation right outside the hotel. In the evening, the area was kind of sketchy.
The hotel staff were very helpful, we requested a room on the top floor and it was perfect for our needs. My only complaint would be that we when we returned in the evening it would have been nice to have security or the main lobby at ground level. The main lobby is not on ground level, in fact the only way to proceed to your room is to wait for the elevator. The elevator access is open to the general public, in fact both times we returned to the hotel, there were men waiting in this area. They were not hotel guest as my husband asked if they were waiting for the elevator. They said they were just getting warm and would be heading out soon. This area should not be open to general public for hotel guest safety.

Not terrible but not great

Posted 09-Mar-2017
Housekeeping started knocking at our door at 9am while we were still sleeping when checkout wasn't until 11. Also they charged my visa $273 when the room was only $185 according to my receipt. We won't be going back there.
