Lobby needs to be moved to ground floor

Posted 13-Mar-2017
Pros: Our room had the convenience of a microwave and small fridge. The room was clean and it looked like it was recently renovated.
Cons: Ground level needs to be secured for hotel guest safety. Perhaps, swipe cards like other hotels offer. Should not be open for the general public.
Location: We liked the fact there was local transportation right outside the hotel. In the evening, the area was kind of sketchy.
The hotel staff were very helpful, we requested a room on the top floor and it was perfect for our needs. My only complaint would be that we when we returned in the evening it would have been nice to have security or the main lobby at ground level. The main lobby is not on ground level, in fact the only way to proceed to your room is to wait for the elevator. The elevator access is open to the general public, in fact both times we returned to the hotel, there were men waiting in this area. They were not hotel guest as my husband asked if they were waiting for the elevator. They said they were just getting warm and would be heading out soon. This area should not be open to general public for hotel guest safety.

Not terrible but not great

Posted 09-Mar-2017
Housekeeping started knocking at our door at 9am while we were still sleeping when checkout wasn't until 11. Also they charged my visa $273 when the room was only $185 according to my receipt. We won't be going back there.

Nice hotel close to transportation

Posted 07-Mar-2017
Pros: Bed was comfortable. Continental breakfast was plentiful.
Cons: Hotel needs upgrading. The toilet and bath tub needed replacing as they were showing their age.
Location: Hotel was in Chinatown in Toronto Ontario. The hotel was right at a bus stop. The front desk was very helpful in providing directions.
The hotel was a 10 minute cab ride from Union Station. The staff were helpful and courteous. The bus stop is located in front of the hotel. Easy access to the bus. There are bus shelters to protect you from the weather. I was travelling with two teenage girls who liked the hotel, continental breakfast provided them with enough food. There was coffee, tea, juice, bagels, cereal, toast, yogurt, waffles.

No one got hurt or sick and no bugs

Posted 01-Mar-2017
Pros: It was close to where we were going for the evening.
Cons: Street accessibility was too easy. Place needs some serious upkeep.
Location: Horseshoe Tavern, McKenzie Market, Dark Horse Coffee.
This place was a little scary. ANY one could have come right up to our room without ever passing by the front desk because outside access elevator went straight from the street to our floor above the desk. Dark halls, dark rooms, decorations torn off the walls, recycling and waste baskets were in the windows of our room for falling ceiling plaster that was dripping down from the window area. Continental breakfast was extremely lacking; no yogurt, no decaf coffee ( instant- blah)...Grey dull lifeless. It was very close to an awesome coffee shop across the street where we went for breakfast, close to the bar where we were going to see a band. Beds were comfortable enough and it was quiet enough to sleep. Room seemed clean. Parking was easy. Ok for one night with ringing ears and a few cocktails. Staff was ok.

Not great.

Posted 01-Feb-2017
Not as bad as one might expect given the odd mall location.... but not great either. Noise can be heard from hall/adjacent rooms very easily. Air conditioner face was falling off and had some fluid leaking/dried all over it. Had a jacuzzi suite but somehow they forgot a shower curtain in the separate shower??? The tod was there but no curtain so every time you bathed water got everywhere... Asked for a late checkout but was woken early anyway by a Chinese housekeeper (literally) screaming in the hallway outside our door for 5+ mins until we opened the door in anger to ask her to stop screaming. Only good thing was an on-site massage spa. Won't be back.

Found it great walking distance from the Hockey Hall of Fame, CN Tower, Rogers Center, and the Air Canada Center.
