The best area to stay in Toirano is the historic centre itself, known as Toirano Vecchia. This ancient part of the town is a network of narrow, cobbled alleys, archways, and stone houses, providing a truly authentic Ligurian experience. It's built on a hillside, so be prepared for some gentle inclines. The centrepiece is the Parish Church of San Martino di Tours, and you'll find charming local shops and eateries tucked away throughout the lanes. For couples looking for a romantic and quiet escape, staying within Toirano Vecchia is ideal. You'll be right at the heart of the town's history, enjoying evening strolls through beautifully preserved streets and dining at traditional trattorias. It offers a sense of stepping back in time, away from the busier coastal areas.Families might find the areas just outside the immediate historic core more convenient, particularly if travelling with younger children or needing easier access for parking. These areas still offer a pleasant environment and are only a short, easy walk from the historic centre's attractions, including the famous Toirano Caves.

The best time to go to Toirano is during the spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the region isn't as crowded.During these months, the temperatures are comfortable for exploring the Toirano Caves, which are a major attraction, and for enjoying the Ligurian coastline without the intense heat of summer. You'll find it's a lovely time for walking through the historic village and taking day trips to nearby coastal towns. For those who prefer beach holidays and don't mind warmer temperatures, July and August offer the hottest weather, ideal for swimming and sunbathing along the nearby Riviera.
