The location was perfect, close enough for a 10 minute walk to munsterplatz but far enough away from old town to be easily accessed by car. The hotel was small, but had a distinctive charm. We especially enjoyed the hotel garden for reading.

Very comfortable, quiet hotel five minute walk from main train station and less than ten minutes to Altstadt and Cathedral. Also close to Freiburg’s main concert hall and the Jazzhaus. Great breakfast. Very helpful staff. Will definitely stay there again when I am in town.

I would love to let be this property. At the same time I don’t want to leave a bad review as I know only a few rooms are affected. First off, the staff and the location were absolutely lovely! However, when I arrived I realized my room was directly next to the front desk. There was no separation door or anything else to keep noise out. This wasn’t a problem until I wanted to sleep in a little later. And about 0630 the breakfast crowd started rolling in. From that point on, I heard EVERYTHING going on in the lobby. I think as long as you aren’t in those few rooms next to the reception area, you’ll have a fantastic stay!

Very clean and comfortable room! Breakfast was also delicious! Only negative things are no elevator, and if you have to park it's at an underground parking garage a block away at the train station.

Great hotel with a nice location!
The staff was very friendly and accommodating! Comfortable rooms and a great breakfast spread. Also, great location with lots of restaurants and sights nearby. Definitely recommend!

A pleasant 3 night stay
A very well run family hotel close to the railway and the old city in a quiet street. A good size room for a single. The bed was firm which I wasn't used to but soon adapted. Be aware there is no lift but help is there if you need it.

Charming Hotel, Lovely Breakfast
We had a very nice stay at Hotel Barbara. Just three minutes walk from the train station and a very easy walk into the town center, the location was perfect. The room looked out into their beautiful garden and was very quiet. A few things in the room needed repair (safe and exterior blinds) but it wasn’t an issue. The staff was lovely and they offered a very nice breakfast. We would not hesitate to stay again.

Perfect place to stay for a quick inexpensive stay
The hotel Barbara is conveniently located near the train station and town. It was a very pleasant stay. My only complaint is that the sheets are scratchy and it felt like I was getting exfoliated every time I turned in bed.

Simple, quaint and clean.
Very friendly and accommodating receptionist. We arrived later so there was a nice courtyard to sit with the wine and snacks we brought and receptionist brought us plates and napkins. Simple and clean...very close to the train and bus station but you didn't hear much noise. Also right around corner of our go-to Italien restaurant. Would recommend and stay again.

I’ll certainly be back!
The hotel is very well located; close to the train station and a short walk to the city center. It is in a quiet neighborhood so a good night’s sleep is assured! The included breakfast is a to way to start off the day and a cocktail in the garden is the perfect way to end it. All of the staff is friendly and helpful. There is not a lift so carrying luggage up the stairs may be a concern for some; if so, request a room on a lower level. The air conditioning in the room is top notch (who says you don’t need air conditioning in Europe? Climate change is happening! Every summer sees heat waves in Europe now). All-around great experience. Hotel Barbara is highly recommended!

Excellent friendly family hotel 3 minutes from Hauptbahnhof, stores, trams and restaurants. A short walk into the Altstadt. Complementary breakfast with a wide choice to eat.

Had a great stay in this charming hotel. Great location on a quiet street near the main train station. Convenient to many restaurants. Very clean with a nice breakfast and great staff. Would definitely stay there again.

The Hotel Barbara is located in a very good location near the old town. The hotel was kept up very nice and had many excellent old town touches to it. The breakfast was very good. Excellent place to stay.

Cozy spot easily walkable to old town.
Good location close to the Old Town. Cozy hotel With AC. Nice quiet street with dozens of walkable restaurants nearby. Good location to walk and see Freiburg, or get out of town via car or bus and see the incredible small towns and countryside nearby.

Quaint hotel close to old Freiburg
Hotel is a short distance from the railway station, a 7 minute walk if baggage not heavy, 4 minutes by taxi if chosen. My room was a single standard, with a small balcony. The hotel is close to the theatre, concert Hall and movies, a short walk to old Freiburg, which is a delight to see. Not much happening in the area on a Sunday night in mid September. The little waterways for which Freiburg is well known were dry. Perhaps so after a long hot summer. Water level in the canal was also low. Concierge recommended some great eating places in easy walking distance from the hotel.

The room Was comforting and good sized for a European room. The staff was friendly and the location was fantastic. The only downside was that actual keys are used, which meant the door had to be locked from both the inside and outside of the room by the key. I would stay here again

This morning, as I was enjoying a cup of coffee and some toast spread with the delicious jam Hotel Barbara gave us on our departure, my thoughts went back to our recent stay with them. The front desk staff was so thoughtful and caring, making sure our time in their hotel was just right. The location was perfect to get to the Old Town. We started each day with a delicious breakfast served in the hotel and arrived home, after our day's adventures, to a spotlessly cleaned room.

Recommended Hotel at Freiberg
Good sevice and location. Very closed to station, just 5 mins walk. The staff here are kind and nice. All kinds of service can be compared to 5 star hotel. The balcony is big with fresh flower , we enjoy stay here. The breakfast room is classic and the food variety is large.

Very good location. It takes about 5 mins by walk to go to the train station or old town. Bathroom is bright and clean. Staff are really nice and always helpful. I also like their garden, small but lovely one!

Charming yet modern
Hotel is very close to the train station but on a side street so still very quiet. Room was very clean and modern. I even had air conditioning. Staff was very helpful and spoke English if needed. Thoughout the hotel were historic pictures of Freiburg and explanations which added to the experience. A nice stay!!

quaint hotel in charming location
I had a wonderful experience with this quaint hotel. The staff was helpful and friendly and the complimentary breakfast was really pleasant with lots of nice options. The neighborhood is quite charming. Everything is walkable. The only negative is that my room was TINY. I was staying alone and was only there one night so it didn't bother me at all, but I could see it being an issue.

Walking distance to train station. Beautiful old building. However, that means no elevators. Great breakfast buffet with large assortment. Proprietor even gave us a jar of their homemade marmalade on check-out.

I stayed for 2 nights with my daughter. The room was small but comfortable. The hotel is a little on the old side but clean and friendly. Breakfast was very good. Everyone accomodating and friendly.

This is a small, pleasant hotel a short walk from the train station. It's in an old building without an elevator; this was fine by me but won't be to everyone's tastes. Breakfast was simple and typical of small German hotels. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, nothing spectacular but nothing wrong at all, just a good, solid hotel experience typical of this genre in Germany.
