We stayed in this hotel for one night before dropping our son off at University of Exeter. We booked two twin bedrooms and both were spacious, comfortable and warm, with flatscreen TV, coffee making facilities and en suite shower and toilet. The hotel itself was full of personal touches like bookcases crammed with interesting books (including a hardback set of Charles Dickens!), board games and at least 3 cats. There was good wifi throughout. We didn't use the garden but there were some nice areas to sit and relax. We had dinner which was cooked to order - tasty and excellent portion sizes. The husband and wife owners were friendly and made us very comfortable. The English breakfast was also good. It was a nice change from an impersonal 4 star hotel and really felt like a home from home.. Our 19 and 12 year old children initially thought it was too old fashioned but they felt at home within an hour.
Lovely B&B in excellent location. Spotlessly clean and the owners couldn't have been more helpful - Chris even drove us to a local National Trust property when there was a long wait for a taxi. The breakfast was wonderful and filled us up until tea time! Definitely will return.
Cannot say enough about this hotel; everything from the views to the room and amenities absolutely excellent. Ian and Linda, the owners were incredibly attentive and discreet. Breakfasts the best we've ever had - homemade and absolutely fresh in every respect.
Very clean room. Tranquil. Nice country cottage feel.Pleasant owners. David makes a yummy breakfast. Wi fi is available for the ever demanding teenagers! Was surprised by the VERY NARROW WINDING ROADS in locating B&B.
Booked through EXPEDIA and found out later by contacting owner directly that BREAKFAST was not actually included. EXPEDIA OUGHT TO BE INFORMING GUESTS RIGHT FROM THE START THAT, BREAKFAST aint included in booking fee.
On the whole, was a lovely weekend away.
Ideal stay for a long weekend in the national park area. We came for a weekend of racing on Wimbleball Lake, not too far by car.
They provide parking off the street which is a bonus in the middle of the village.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, accommodated every extra request (extra duvet, early breakfast, vegan options etc).
The restaurant is a bit quirky, the food was very good! We had dinner and breakfast there, at all 3 occasions they catered for vegan dietary requirements without any fuss. Highly recommended!

John, who was looking after the Catle, was most welcoming and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Breakfast was average, ran out of croissants and OJ when we got to the table and they weren't restocked, but we were a little late and the room is rustic but could perhaps have been cleaner. Apart from these two minor (not really) complaints, the rest of the stay was excellent. Great setting and only a short walk to 3 pubs that were doing excellent food and drink.

This attractive town on the river Exe grew rich from wool in the 17th and 18th centuries (to learn more visit the excellent local museum), hence its many fine period buildings. Sights include the fortified manor houses of Tiverton Castle and Bickleigh Castle, and Knightshayes Court, a Victorian country house with rich interiors and a fine garden. Beautiful Exmoor National Park, with its wild scenery, walks and villages begins nine miles east.
