Esperienza consigliata, lo staff è stato molto cordiale e disponibile… A Mendrisio per lavoro ci vado spesso, l’albergo è molto comodo alla stazione, cosa che ho sfruttato per recarmi in centro. Ma anche per una semplice camminata al lago. Credo da come sto scrivendo si capisca la bella esperienza che ho passato ed infatti ho lasciato 5 stelle su 5.

Clean, comfortable though a bit hot in room open windows and closed shutters worked great for the night. Ate breakfast, nice selection also provided gluten free alternatives. Dinner service looked good, a lot of locals that is always a good sign. Service personnel spoke several languages which is great.

I was stopping overnight to break a journey, and it was fine for that. Comfy bed and the owners were friendly and welcoming. But the room was too warm and I couldn't have the window open (at least to start with) because there was a very noisy fan just below my room.

Basic hotel very near the station
The Svizzero has a wonderful, helpful staff and a good restaurant (expensive, but that's Switzerland for you). Rooms are small and cramped, and I'd hate to be a large person trying to use the shower there! Practically across the street from the rail station, so very convenient.

Simple hotel 20 minutes south of Lugano
This small and basic hotel is located right next to the train station, which can take you to Lugano in less than 20 minutes. The staff were very friendly and efficient, and they spoke decent English. The room was quite small with old-fashioned furnishings, but still reasonably comfortable for a short stay. Everything looked clean except I did see a few cobwebs in one of the corners. WiFi was free and simple. Fortunately there was an air-conditioning unit in the room that worked well and kept the room cool (not guaranteed in these parts), but it was quite bulky and made it difficult to open/close the window or see the scenic view outside. The town of Capolago where the hotel is located is quite pretty and has several shops and restaurants, including one at the hotel. Despite the steep Swiss pricing (elsewhere in Europe this hotel might be half the price), I enjoyed my stay overall and would come back.

Like your grandmother's house
Staying here is like staying at your grandmother's house...the decor is very old and outdated, the rooms very basic and in need of an update. That said, everything is clean, the people who work here are wonderful and warm, and the fondue dinner served at the restaurant downstairs (in front of a warm fire at the fireplace) is fantastic. The surrounding area is charming and beautiful. The train station is right across the street but noise wasn't an issue with us.

A very basic hotel close to the train station. There's no lift so we had to carry our luggage up to the third floor. The first night was a nightmare. The room was sooo hot, the air con was not working. Since we arrived at 11:30pm and the reception closed at midnight, we didn't have anyone to complain to until the next day. So, we opened the window to get some air in but the train is so loud, so I did not sleep all night. Then the soap dispenser in the shower was empty, luckily we had one for the baby which what we've used. We complained to the reception in the morning, which to be fair did apologize and got everything working. so the 2nd night was better, but still, for the price that you're paying, I would look somewhere else.

Convenient 15 minute train ride to Lugano
Good overall service. Breakfast buffet was very high quality, with meats, cheese, cereal, fruit, pastry coffee. Had dinner at hotel restaurant one night, with good food and service. Friendly staff has limited English, and staff at restaurant is also stretched a little to cover the front desk of the small upstairs hotel, but the experience was good overall, and we were OK despite no Italian or German skills. Rooms are small, which is usual for Europe, but very clean with a decent toilet/shower room. Needed to close window on Friday night due to loud music at the bar next door, but the windows blocked out all noise. We had rooms away from rail line (next to hotel is Milan-Zurich main line), so noise from that was non-existant. No AC, but fan OK for the weather we expeneinced in early July. This was lowest cost alternative to get rooms near Lugano on the main line, and met our expectations, exceeding them in terms of the included breakfast. Also recommend walking around the very pretty villiage of Riva San Vitale which is a few hundred meters away, with a number of historic buildings (a 5th century baptistry, for example). We would visit again.

Amazing, cozy albergo near Lugano!
My husband and I travel extensively, typically with our 1 year old, and typically stay in quite high-end "chain" hotels. We decided to look for something a bit more intimate and found Albergo Svizzero. You feel like you are staying in the home of the most wonderful hosts. They were very accommodating to our needs with the baby and communicated well in both English and German (and of course Italian, which we don't speak). The restaurant, you can tell is a popular place in town, as it would get pretty full at night. The food was very good and consistent. I loved that in the mornings, sometimes we would be running late (baby was still jet lagged), and they would leave a table ready for us, clearly indicating that they knew we hadn't eaten yet. At most places, if you miss breakfast, too bad! So, this was nice. The rooms are far from beautiful. The decor is very dated, to the extent that it's a bit funny. I realized I didn't care a bit though, as they were immaculate. Every square inch of the room and bathroom was spotlessly clean, and that is, by far, most important to me. We went during winter time to shop at Foxtown, but I was imagining how stunning this area must be in the warmer seasons. It's literally 2 minutes or less from the door of the hotel, and you are standing at the edge of Lake Lugano. It was quite easy to get to Foxtown. We had a rental car, but I noticed a train just across from the hotel. I'm not sure where this train goes, but it gave me the impression that it's easy to get around from Svizzero. We parked our car, at no cost, just in front of the hotel. I truly cannot say enough good things. This is actually the first review I've ever written about a hotel, so it's meaningful! If the staff ever reads this, please let this be my family's thank you! We had such a nice time. :)

Das Albergo Svizzero ist ein sehr charmantes Hotel. Es ist ein historisches Gebäude, was man an der Inneneinrichtung im Bad sehr gut bemerkt, dafür war es aber sehr sauber. Capolago ist nicht sehr schön, aber der Ort Riva liegt 10 Minuten zu Fuss (gemütlich) und zeigt ein malerisches Dorf. Das Personal war freundlich und das Frühstücksbüffet war grossartig.

Unterkunft: Essen im Restaurant war sehr lecker, Frühstück auch. Zimmer ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen, da hat sich bei unserem Aufenthalt der Handtuchhalter im Bad von der Wand gelöst. Wir hatten als 4 köpfige Familie zwei miteinander verbundene Zimmer, was praktisch war. Wir haben das Hotel als Zwischenstation auf der Anreise von Süddeutschland an die Cote d'Azur genutzt und konnten noch den Nachmittag am See genießen. Umgebung: Wir sind von der Unterkunft Richtung Zentrum am See gelaufen und hatte den Eindruck, dass das Örtchen wohl vor einigen Jahren in seiner Blüte stand; das ein oder andere Gebäude würde da sicher eine Renovierung vertragen. Im Örtchen gibt es eine Eisdiele mit super leckerem selber gemachtem Eis. Ein nettes kleines Strandbad (vom Hotel aus gut zu Fuß zu erreichen) direkt am Luganer See gibt es dort auch.

Empfang und Checkin gut. Zimmer eher klein und für Business fehlt ein zweckmässiger Tisch! Ansonsten ok. Das Restaurant im Hotel ist sehr zu empfehlen. Nicht günstig aber Top!

Great food but no sleep
Great Pizza and nice Breakfast. However the room (29) was terrible. WC was so close to the wall that as a tall person it's hard to sit there, also there was a AC or something like directly behind the wall where the beds are which made a lot of noise through the whole night and it was nearly impossible to sleep because of this.

Albergo prenotato alle 22 mentre ero alla guida. Sono arrivato alle 24,00 e mi hanno atteso. Buona accoglienza, nonostante l'ora. Camera com arredi rovinati, pur se pulita. Lavandino davanti al letto (non in stanza separata) che ha gorgogliato molto rumorasemente durante la notte (inspiegabile ma vero, purtroppo). Ho ritenuto inutile segnalarlo al check-out. Personale gentile anche al mattino. Colazione discreta (croissant passabilie, frutta fresca in buona quantitàe varietà). Parcheggio pubblico vicino, gratis fino alle 8.00, dopo a pagamento.
