Excellent property and very convenient to all attractions in Taormina. A giant multi-tiered parking lot is located next to the hotel. Property is clean and has a fantastic charm of the Art Nouveau style, and Hotel staff was extremely efficient, pleasant and very helpful and there for every need of mine.

The hotel offers fabulous views of Mount Etna and the sea. It is conveniently located for shopping and dining. The breakfast buffet is generous.

Staff are excellent, especially on the Reception Desk (Giuseppe and Simona particularly helpful). Food is good. Only let-down is decor which is a bit tired, but then it doesn't purport to be a 5-star establishment.

The staff were wonderful and the breakfast buffet was amazing. I would definitely stay here again. My only suggestion would be better signage to indicate where to leave the car for the valet-it was confusing.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Excelsior. It has the most beautiful poor area I had ever seen. The rooms and hotel in general have a bit of that old fashioned Italian vibe which I loved but the pool was everything ! We certainly will stay here again if we come back to Taormina.

The pool and patio were amazing, with fantastic views of Mt. Etna. The staff are incredibly friendly and the lobby bar with outdoor seating was stunning. I cannot wait to return.

We loved our stay here! The staff were very friendly and we were able to even check in early. The breakfast had many options and the bar was also great for a nightcap. The pool is spectacular with panoramic views and plenty of loungers. The water wasn’t too cold and they keep it clean. It’s really the views though that make it worth the walk. The room was nice and big with a large bathroom. If you are driving we found parking at Porta Catania which is right beside the hotel which allows up to 48 hours (paid of course). Once you park you just go up to level 7 and you are in Taormina! Definitely recommend this place to make your trip to Taormina even more special.

Lots of old world charm, but the rooms are not well-appointed by contemporary standards - need real showers - not confined ship-like showers. TV in room is small and far from the beds. No AC even though it's warm in the Spring here now. Hotel has space - could use a fitness center. The best part is the gardens/pool and the magnificent views. Staff are a bit uptight about certain things, but overall the stay is enjoyable.

The information on the website was not consistent with the property. The personnel was helpful but the furnishings in the lobby needed some updating… they appeared worn & tired. The room was satisfactory but the bathroom was difficult to maneuver in. The location was great & convenient.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel grounds were situated on a ridge with stunning views on both sides. Our room was spacious and clean. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and evening drinks watching the sunset over Mount Etna at the hotel bar.

Location was great. Valet gentleman was super nice. Rooms very small. I find that booking rooms through Expedia always get very small less desirable rooms. So this was typical of that I’m starting to dislike the situation Breakfast was ok nothing special. Coffee terrible. Staff mostly ambivalent but location is excellent

Wonderful staff
The staff were very professional, helpful and friendly. The towels were extremely thin and mine was full of holes! I do appreciate recycling but at the price expected a fluffier towel! A larger room would also have been appreciated, but we were a last minute booking. The valet parking service was excellent. Breakfast was pretty good but a superior coffee machine is required- one goes to Italy in part for great coffee. The hotel location is perfect and the views fabulous.

Just an amazing grand 1904 luxury hotel in a setting of huge gardens and large pool to really enjoy away from the crowds in Taormina....but also a great base... would advise paying a bit more to get.the truly amazing sea and Etna views

Disappointing in the sense that we had to serve ourselves for breakfast. Regarded as second class when it came to the weddings and being worked around us while we tried to enjoy the pool. Rooms were not replenished with usual tea bags, toilt paper etc. We had to request everything.

After searching for hours on various websites, we chose the Excelsior Palace Hotel because my husband thought he heard of it through friends. It could not have been better. The location is excellent because it is at the entrance of the old town which means you have all the restaurants on your doorstep while also having space and sweeping views over the coastline and Mt Etna. Every evening we would have a drink before dinner, watching the sunset over Mt Etna, and on our last night we watched as red lava came flowing down the mountain. It was breathtaking. The receptionists were great and they always provided good restaurant recommendations. They have a fabulous breakfast buffet in the morning, really good lunches in the restaurant near the pool, and a three course dinner menu that is delicious and well priced. On the weekends the hotel has a piano player which added to the calm and elegant atmosphere. The staff are incredible - very much an old world silver service you don’t find much anymore. Another point about the location - the hotel is not far from the highway which is really good is you want to drive south to Syracuse or north to the islands. I hope this review is helpful. Enjoy your time in Sicily!

Perfect vacation spot
Excellent stay. The manager, particularly, was quite efficient, helpful and fair when we had some complaints in the beginning. The took extraordinary care to resolve it over and beyond we expected. Great place for a vacation and best view of mt.Etna from the room.
