Not for couples who want piece and quiet in a stunning town.
The hotel has some amazing views and Jenny at breakfast is very attentive and was the highlight of our stay. Always had a smile for the guests.
The problem with the hotel is the location. The road to the hotel is not for the faint hearted and is not easily accessible by car or foot if you are not comfortable walking on a very steep hill. My wife and I could live with the walk to the town because what greets you after the walk is breathtaking.
What we found frustrating is the owners children in the pool every day. After a hot morning walking around the town or climbing Mount Etna, it would be great to have some down time by the pool. The only children in the hotel were the owners and although very polite I don’t need to hear unsupervised children playing it the pool when it would be nice to relax. This included shouting and the children playing music on there phones. If this was children of guests, then there is really little you can do, but with only 7 rooms, this was not the case.
In short don’t expect a couples hotel, but then I would not say it’s suitable for family’s. I understand that the Italians are hugely family orientated, but if you are running a business you need to cater to the guests you have in the hotel at any particular time. This hotel does not do this. Its a family home that has guest rooms, not what we were sold.
