Our third time back and will return again. Staff is amazing, food is amazing and the absolute beauty of Hotel Capitan is breathtaking. Love the wildlife....monkeys, raccoons, iguanas and birds, even the cute kitty cats. Loved the comfort of our room..slept like babies. Special thanks to Juan at breakfast for making us feel right at home. Special thanks to Max for always being so welcoming and professional. And thanks to Luis for all of our yummy drinks! See you all next year :-)

Hotel Capitan Suizo rests on Playa Tamarindo, one of the most beautiful Pacific coast beaches in all of Costa Rica. Directly …More
5 minutes from Main Street and the beach means it is close to the so-called action, but far enough. Small hotel with about 8 units. Clean. The owner lives onsite and she is way cool. Communal kitchen, complimentary use of beach towels. 2nd time in Tamarindo and I would have no issue staying here again.
Absolutely loved the place! My little girl was greeted by all the staff daily and they made us feel so welcomed! The locals were so friendly. Tight community. Our room was cleaned everday, the front desk staff arranged taxi rides for us. Keep in mind everything in the surrounding area is a bit of a walk so a car or taxi is ideal but taxi rides are costly. We booked the deluxe room which offered a tv and a/c, its not in the description though, I just happen to call ahead and ask what the difference was. The food in the restaurant was all fresh and tasted wonderfully! A bit pricey again but there arent many places to eat nearby. definitely worth it! The location by the beach was awesome! Just down the trail, the sunset is priceless! Can't say enough about this place. Such a lovely experience. Bike rental was fun too! We are definitely coming back to playa grande!!!!
This resort is beautiful and the food is amazing. The resort staff is very helpful but some are more friendly than others. The beach is beautiful and has a lot of volcanic rocks which forms small pools of warm water, it is perfect for relaxing without being knocked down by the waves. The beach is very peaceful since there aren't any other resorts within walking distance to the resort so you can walk along the shore for miles all alone. One thing I would recommend for the resort is placing a warning sign under the Manchineel tree next to the pool bar because the fruit releases a liquid and it is like poison ivy if it lands on your skin. The liquid from the tree fell on my eyes and my eyes were swollen, red, burning and I couldn't open it for 4 days.
We loved being off of the main drag of Tamarindo away from the noise of the nightlife. We felt safe and secure behind a locked gate at night. Free breakfast in the morning was delicious. Our room was clean and spacious with a separate walk in closet to store our luggage and clothing. It had a nice kitchenette with a fridge, stove and microwave. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The beach is a short 5 min. walk and restaurants are even closer. The pool was refreshing after a hot day. I would stay here again. If you are looking for a comfortable stay and not all of the fancy amenities of a big corporate hotel this is the place for you. It has charm and a homey feel you are not going to get at a big box hotel.
With its white sandy beaches, Tamarindo is a resort town on the Pacific coast that is backed by mountains and national parks. The sun shines nearly every day in Tamarindo, and visitors travel to the area to relax outdoors while fishing, golfing, swimming, and visiting spas. Tourists also take time to experience the local culture and fresh Costa Rican seafood dishes.
