Stayed in a Comfort Double room. The first room where the TV didn't work was on the mezzanine floor with a window facing the street. Unfortunately it was very easy to see from the outside, so the curtains had to be used permanently. As a result, the room was very dark. After one night we moved to another room that was more spacious and even had a balcony. It really depends on which room you have in the hotel, even in the most expensive category. Annoying: you can't shower without flooding the bathroom.

It is near to the old town, just 10 mins walk. In December, the room temperature was good. Breakfast is enough. Price is great for the value

I really liked the location of the hotel it was ideally located for easy access to the old town. The hotel looks like it is built into the old city wall which is clearly visible in the breakfast room. Service on the front desk was good. Breakfast was adequate. I found the room adequate but a little small. The single bed was uncomfortable and there was a lot of noise from outside the hotel like refuse vehicles and leaf blowers which started operating early in the morning. I would stay again but would upgrade to a better room. Pricing was fair.

Behind my bed huge piece of the wall was missing, but when I complained the girl at reception said it was designers idea.... The toilet has a urine smell even though it looked clean. +Surprisingly breakfast was lovely, a lot to choose from and for any taste. Loved it!!

Old town, great location.
The room was just fine, the only problem was it was too hot and the noise from right behind the room was unbearable around the clock from a highway there, so keeping a window open was out of the question. Front desk helpful and friendly and breakfast fantastic. Great location.

Hotel is at the very northern tip of the old town. Easy to get around the old town on foot though watch out for the cobbles. Hotel ok but room was quite small and the furniture could have been laid out better for more room and comfort. 'Plastic' curtains did not close properly and there was a lot of street lighting outside. Room felt a little unkempt - a hoover round the edges and under the bed would have helped. On our last evening the fire alarm was activiated but guests were not evacuated. The alarm sounded twice and both times the staff switched it off, which in all my training is a NO NO! On going downstairs to ask if we were evacuating, we were told to return to our rooms as the engineer and fire brigade were there. We were told it was activated by a guest have a shower. We loved the Rixwell Gertrude in Riga but this one was not up to that standard.

It was due to too much steam from the shower in one of the rooms. Our alarm board shows where the alarm goes off and my colleague found out straight away the cause of it. This hotel is pretty poor, rooms a horrible, don't stay in basement a Dungeon. Changed to level 4 much better but still bad . Breakfast area looks nice. The breakfast was ok ham , cheese . Bread , eggs, scrambled eggs, fish , bit of saled and cereals , no orange juice. The restaurant was good the waiter Roman was brilliant would give him 5stars. And it had a small bar. Location was great 5mins to the oldtown square .

Booked Economy double room, previously advised hotel of late check in. On arrival, after midnight room allocated was a twin room with 2 beds and virtually nothing else or any other space in the room. The reception had no other room available so we suffered the first night. Next morning we again requested a change of room and we were offered a larger room with a supplement of 10 euros per night extra. We accepted the change because it was totally impossible to continue in the original room (Room 105). The other negative feedback relates to the total inflexibility of the staff in the breakfast room and their dreadful attitude. The Reception staff were fine and helpful so clearly the problem with this hotel is lack and invisibility of management. Overall, very poor value and we won’t be staying here again.

Disliked: Room comfort
Mixed feeling. We stayed here for four nights at the end of July. Temperature during our stay was 85 degree (F). No airconditioning, nor fan was provided. No bug/mosquitoes protection screen was installed at the window. For the first night, we stayed in the first floor. There is only one small window. It was so hot in the room during night. We could not sleep at all. It was like sleeping in the hell. They upgraded our room next day to the second floor with two windows. Air circulation was better. We opened the windows during night. Better. We will not stay here again. Hotel should install the bug screen to the window. At least, they should provide a fan to customers.

I liked very much the feeling of the old town, and an old building. But the staff was very disconnected; they first gave as the wrong room; and generally were almost hostile
