The hotel has a lot of potential, but we had many issues with this hotel from the moment we checked in. We had to wait over an hour after the check-in time for our room. When we entered the room, the telephone system in the room wasn't working, the shower door/toilet door was completely broken off and we did not receive a welcome fruit basket while all our friends did. Because of the inconvenience, they offered complimentary massages at their spa. We slept well the first night.
After we attended our friend's wedding nearby & came back to the hotel late at night, we noticed a horrible smell in our room. Our friends in the room next door also noticed the smell. It was so bad that it started to give us headaches after being in the room. We checked to see what it was in the room next to us because we had heard some drilling in the empty room during the day. We saw that they had either painted or put some kind of lacquer on the wood. We knew if we stayed there, it would be hazardous to our health.
We all requested to be moved to different rooms, and the 4 of us were moved to different rooms in the middle of the night. When we got to the new room, it smelled moldy and the lamp shade was moldy and there were stains on the couch. This was NOT nice for a "5 star" property where we were paying extra.
We complained to the manager and he said he would refund us for the 1 night, but when we checked out, the receptionist said we had to email Expedia for the refund.
