The best place to stay in this Lovely old town. Takayama. Better than Kyoto. Probably the best place to visit to see the oldest town in Japan.

We stayed in a double room for 3 days during our visit to Takayama. The stay was extremely comfortable as the room was spacious and clean. Staff was helpful and friendly and we felt very welcome. It is a 10 mins walk to the nearby conveniece shop and McDonalds. It is a 15 mins walk to the Bus Terminal but there is hotel shuttle to take you if your legs are tired. I will definitely stay there again!

Large spacious tatami room
Tatami room was very big and spacious, good for baby to crawl around. My kids loved sleeping on the futons. Only not so good part was they didn’t have any baby amenities, like sterilizer... so was inconvenient.

Recommended! Stay here. You won't regret it.
A large and comfortable hotel. Thoroughly recommended. Mix of East and West - you can sleep on the floor or on the bed! Onsen for a small fee (which you pay whether or not you use the onsen). Our room had a sitting room (yes!) and a big bathroom (how big? toilet, sink and bath all in separate areas.) There was an '80s feel to the room - bed-side table had a built-in hi fi (not working) However, hotel is located on the Western side of the train station, while most of the tourist attractions are on the East. There's a free shuttle to take you to the station. It's a roughly 20 min walk if you miss the bus. The large gift shop in the lobby sold a wide variety of souvenirs.

The onsen is good. Dinner food is good and price is reasonable but it’s full for the 2 days we stayed. No priority given to the hotel guests but the hotel receptionist managed to get us a table. Location is a bit far from the city center but the shuttle bus makes a difference.

Nice outdoor bath
The hotel has a wonderful bath. I ate at 2 nice Japanese restaurants inside and had really good meals both breakfast and dinner. The staff were helpful and added a futon to my mattress as it was very hard. I stayed in the main wing, and as others have noted, the rooms are older and worn around the edges. I would recommend a different area of the hotel perhaps, for a room.

Room is large, outdated but clean. Full of amenity. I like they providing japanese-style gown in the room so I can wear this to their large souvenir shop and onzen. Free parking.
