Arty convention center hotel with comfy beds

Posted 23-Mar-2017
Pros: The beds, the food, the hot water, the bar.
Cons: Nonabsorbent towels, strong cologne smell, exercise equipment broken, lightbulb out in room, room service doesn't really start when they say it does.
Location: Does anyone go to Tacoma for fun? I stayed for work.
I wasn't impressed when I checked in. I was annoyed to have to pay $16 for self-parking ($20 for valet), I had to wait a good 15 minutes at the front desk to check in, and the whole lobby smells like cheap cologne, intentionally. When I tried to order room service for 6:00 am the next morning, which the menu claims is an option, they told me the first trays are delivered between 6:15 and 6:30. I had to leave by 6:30, so no breakfast for me. One of my lightbulbs was burned out, and two of the seven pieces of exercise equipment (both treadmills) in the fitness center were out of order. They saw my initial negative review and apologized, but didn't so much as change the lightbulb. Luckily the hotel grew on me over the two nights I was there. The beds are very comfortable and the food is excellent. The bar is a lovely place to hang out, with lots of comfortable seating and a very cool fireplace. Room service on my second morning was a treat, with excellent food and coffee. I am staying there again next week, so I clearly didn't hate it.

Not a 4-half stars hotel

Posted 20-Mar-2017
Pros: Great choice of tea or coffee in room.
Cons: Parking Fee is too expensive
Location: UW Tacoma, Museum of Glass
Although it is a nice hotel, lack of facility and service made this this hotel a 3 stars or 3 stars half max. No swimming pool, expensive parking. Limited in-room services. Also, it closes to railway, and if the train honks, you cannot sleep at night.

One of the nicer hotels near the Tacoma Doma

Posted 20-Mar-2017
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: You can't turn off the bathroom light. (It is either full-on, or in "nightlight" mode -- which is a bit distracting when you want a really dark room.
Location: Tacoma dome. Chihuly Glass Museum. And I-5 to get you out of Tacoma.
Nice, trendy hotel, with quite a lot of beautiful glass artwork exhibits. Located across the street from the (free) light-rail stop. (Note: Light-rail stops at 10pm. So if you take it to the Tacoma Dome, bring along some cash to pay for a cab on the return trip.) The mini-bar is pretty spendy (even for a hotel mini-bar). We decided not to invest in the hyper-expensive bottle of water (which you can purchase for one-third the price at the grocery store around the corner.) Finally, when booking this hotel, be sure to ask for a Family Friendly room. (Our room had a lithograph of naked female breasts -- which might be offensive to some.) Apparently, the entire 7th floor is devoted to "Titty art" (as my wife calls it.)

The best Tacoma has to offer.

Posted 13-Mar-2017
The only place in Tacoma to stay. Beautiful hotel, nice selection of glass art, comfy beds, big rooms, big TVs on the club level, and an excellent reasonably priced restaurant. I live in Tacoma and come here just to get away i love coming here and do it frequently.

Beautiful art & glass

Posted 09-Mar-2017
Pros: The view from our room was awesome. The lobby was a great place to relax and people watch. The glass displays were amazing.
Cons: We should have been told that housekeeping only comes if the tidy up sign is on the door.
Location: Very close to the Children's Museum, the glass bridge and glass museum, good restaurants and to I5. The valet staff was great at directions.
We loved the lobby bar except for the fact it was closed on Sunday. We had a dinner & a breakfast at Bite which were both excellent. The art and glass works were amazing. It was worth stopping on every floor. Our only problem was that housekeeping never came to straighten the room until we called on the 3rd day, even when we had the tidy up sign on the door.

Great hotel

Posted 06-Mar-2017
Had a wonderful stay at Hotel Murano, friendly staff. Nice lounge. Ordered room service from BITE and it was tasty. My room had a beautiful view of the bay, however it was right next to the elevators, which you definitely could hear from the room. I would just ask to not be there next time! But I will definitely be back!
