Easy to reach, friendly staff!

Posted 01-Sep-2016
Pros: Staff were friendly. Refrigerator and kitchenette were a nice touch.
Cons: One room turn-down every other day would be nice. New towels at the very least?
Location: Local eateries, bars, distilleries, and stores were only a few miles away. The immediate area was a little worn/haggard looking. Couple crack heads.
Where to start... check-in took over an hour because we got in a few minutes too late (12:05 AM to be precise). Our rooms were clean upon check-in, with no visible signs of bed bugs or cockroaches, etc. We were immediately pleasantly surprised by the full sized refrigerators and mini kitchenettes in each room. The beds were decent, and the room only had a faint, damp smell of "recently vacated budget hotel room." However, there were two major detracting factors. First, the room was never turned down, cleaned, or refreshed in the four nights and five days we were there. Secondly, and this may really be a positive or negative depending on your personal er, preferences... was the prostitutes hanging around the hotel in the parking lot and upstair hallways. Just one or two at a time, but totally obvious. We saw the same young-ish gal come and go from four different rooms at various times in the day or night over our four night stay, armed only with a clutch and different outfits. The four big semi truck cabs parked out front told me this is probably a common rendezvous point for lonely truckers. This is obviously a subjective assumption and in no way a reflection on the hotel management or staff. Families be warned though; you may have to explain some things to your young children.

Average

If you want just a simple hotel for the night it's okay. Cleanliness was one of my issues, first room smell of fish, but they did give us another room. Carpet very worn. Place needs an upgrade for what they charge. Just average overall, but in a good location.

Hotel close to base

Posted 15-Aug-2016
The hotel was very clean and close to where we wanted to be since we were house hunting. I loved the fact we had a big fridge and the cleanliness of the room wasp good. I didn't like the breakfast. All that was given was coffee, granola and muffin. Not really standard for a continental breakfast or the price you paid for the hotel.

Had to come back three times before could check in and on third time the original room was still being cleaned. They finally switched us to a different room. Hotel was ok, staff was just there. Close food and highway access was best part.

Needs a some work

Posted 30-Jul-2016
Pros: Location has easy access to Tacoma and the I-5
Cons: Breakfast was grab and go, but only had fruit available 1 of the 7 days. Hallways den to be vacuumed regularly
Location: Close to take away shops
The room Fridge motor turned off with a bang, every few hours and sounded like someone knocking On the door. Our on suite Toilet was continually running. Room was noisy and you could hear the upstairs person walking around in their room. Hallways weren't vacuumed for the week we stayed.

Stay Elsewhere

Posted 13-Jul-2016
Pros: Andrea was the most helpful.
Cons: Hire some more people to keep things moving, guests taken care of and clean up the hotel.
Location: There isn't a lot really close to do. We had to drive at least 15-20 minutes to most activities. We loved Point Defiance and Mount Ranier National P
They seem to be understaffed. They only have one person at the check in desk, and she has to take care of a lot. Often no one would be there or I had to wait a while since she had to help others at the desk and answer the phones. The lobby and elevator were only cleaned once in our 6 day stay. Our room was in need of cleaning. We even found socks that didn't belong to us! If you want to get clean towels, you have to take your used ones down to the desk to get new ones. Having a kitchen in our room wasn't worth it. We'll stay elsewhere and have breakfast.

SMELLY ROOM

Posted 13-Jul-2016
Greeted by friendly staff upon arrival. However there was much hemming and hawing before I was checked in. Apparently another guest had complained about a bad smell in their room earlier in the afternoon. They were moved into another room, leaving me with stinky room. I was informed by the person who checked me in that there was a "slight odor" in my room. It seems that I got the last available room, so no other was available. It was late in the day, and I didn't have much other choice for a place to stay. When I go to my room, there was a distinct odor of spicy cooking, like someone had been cooking spicy food and bacon with the windows closed. I opened the windows, which were limited by locks so that they would only open a few inches to let in fresh air. The smell did not bother me too much until the middle of the night. I woke up around 1 am to the awful smell, probably in the bedding, carpet etc. Could not really get any fresh air for the barely opening windows and just wanting fresh air. Needless to say I did to get much sleep. Please note that the room was very clean in appearance, just the gagging odor making it unpleasant. I made a point upon leaving in the morning to let the person at the desk know that they should not allow anyone to stay in Room 203 again until the bad odor was taken care of. Hope nobody else was froced to spend the night in that room until it was aired out. NOT HAPPY.
