Well positioned place
We stayed here with our 2 kids and it was perfect. We had the loft room so the kids had their own privacy, however we shared a bathroom. Hotel was clean and well taken care of

Booked at short notice on a business trip to Sydney, very convenient to the CBD. Check in staff were helpful, bed was comfortable. The shower within the bath and access to the bath a bit of an issue.

Great central location
Fantastic location in easy walking distance of pretty much everywhere in the CBD and, importantly, cross the road and some of the best running options in the CBD are also right there. Park8 isn't in the middle of a restaurant precinct like the hotels in Darling Harbour which may make it less appealing to some guests but there is a fantastic coffee spot (Pablo and Rusty's) just a few doors down.

A thoroughly underwhelming hotel.
Hotel located right next door to a vast, busy and noisy construction site but there is no acknowledgement of this and any associated disruption on the hotel's website. Staff were also very unsympathetic when the issue was raised and made vague comments about complaining to 'the government' when the noise was excessive. Not a satisfactory response at all. Furthermore, the hotel supposedly offered free wifi but I was unable to access this on my overnight stay. Again, the staff were pretty lukewarm in their efforts to fix this and made no attempt of offer any kind of discount despite the fact the lack of wifi meant I was unable to work in my room as I had planned. Overall, a thoroughly underwhelming experience.

As this is a government operated construction site, they have given us a phone number to contact officials if noise laws are violated, however we cannot stop them from working; I wish there was something I could do about it. I do apologise for the wifi issues you experienced in your room. I assure you my staff behind the scenes would have done all they could to try and rectify and restore our basic, complimentary service in your room. There is, however, always working internet in the reception as a worst case scenario. Decent location, just a little small
Hotel was in a good location but was just above a pub. There was one lift and had to wait a while to get up to the room. Floor level 1 seemed to always have some sort of loud music playing. Room was clean but small, very dim with not much lighting.

Disappointing
Have stayed here before - this time I booked a "Corner room" which turned out to be a disaster. The traffic noise was horrendous and the blackout curtains did not totally block out penetrating light. For a light sleeper disaster. To boot the television did not work and there was no compendium in the room. My advice - DO NOT book a corner room. Convenient hotel for my purposes and I will return however avoiding a corner room at all cost!

Great hotel in a convenient location
We had a great stay in the hotel. It was walking distance to many landmarks of the city. Staff is very helpful. Room was in a great condition and offered us a wonderful comfort.

Our room was boiling hot, air conditioning wasn’t working and had to ask for fans on several occasions. Room was lovely though and bed was comfortable. Was let down by the room being so hot.

Just in case policies are unacceptable
Checked in at 9.30 pm and out at 6.30 am. Why the need to take $100 off my credit card just in case? How many times were you really caught out to charge the unnecessary amount. I choose hotels that have some kev of trust for customers. Also - why the need to scan my license? Where does that go? Otherwise, hotel was clean and well located. It was noisy though.

Great little gem
Don't blink or you'll miss it. This tiny gem is in a great location of the cbd despite its budget rate. The one bedroom loft was spacious, well equipped , modern & clean for my family of four. I recommend parking 300m away at the St Andrews House Wilson Carpark for $30 (24hr rate) instead of the car park affiliated with the hotel which will charge you $60 per night.

Its in a good area and was easy to find. The only bad thing i would have to say is the internet connection was quite terrible, i tried turning my phone off and on many times and tried reconnecting but nothing worked.

Location was good. A bit disappointed with cleanliness. Killed at least 5 little german cockroaches crawling on the bed. Reported it the next day as it was too late at night. Staff was accommodating and ensured no more issues after.

Good location and room good, checked me in early!
The deposit is an issue, a card should suffice. The option of cash should be offered so the matter can be cleared up on check out, not a week or more later. Otherwise staff courteous even under pressure.

Great location and excellent price
Hotel was nice and in a great location. A few small things that were a bit off such as having a menu for a minibar but not having a minibar and having very poor wifi. It served my purposes well- clean comfortable bed, nice shower, close to my morning meeting.

Less suitable for business travellers
Booked 2 nights in a Standard Room; those rooms have frosted windows (as per their advertisement) and are approx. 20m2 (ish); I checked in after 8pm; room wall heater, bathroom vent and shower drainage did not work; I called the front desk and the lady came up (with a blanket) to check the heating, however, she concluded I needed to use the portable heater; I requested to call in the maintenance person; this was rejected since the front desk lady was the only person at the hotel; my request to be moved to a different room was also rejected claiming all rooms were booked; free coffee was offered in the morning; the next day the hotel moved me to a different Standard room, which was fine; for some reason the hotel was reluctant to print my hotel invoice at the time of check out claiming I needed to speak to Wotif; overall: less suitable hotel for business travellers who want a seamless experience at the end of a long working day...

The room was dark and a bit dingy, the carpet was green old and horrible, the windows were frosted which only darkened the room more, the lights were not bright enough to light up the room and one wasn't even working and the other downlight was broken and half in the ceiling space, the towels smelt terrible like a mild kerosene. Had to park down the road to check in then moved the car because it was the wrong car park as this took 35 minutes it cost me $30 then a further $120 to stay the two nights. The bed wasn't comfortable a bit dissapointed the location was great and the staff were friendly.

Noisy and musty
Unfortunately, my stay was not a positive one overall. The traffic noise in the first room I was allocated on the second floor was unbearable and I asked to be moved. The second room had a very loud dripping shower that maintenance attempted to fix after the first night but that continued to drip, so I had to move again. The third room I moved to had the manhole uncovered and beams and exposed wiring visible. Finally, I was upgraded and the room was clean and comfortable. Upon check out the staff couldn't provide a printed receipt and I asked that it be emailed to me, however it never arrived. While staff were polite, it shouldn't be necessary to shift rooms this many times to get a quiet clean room! I would never stay here again.

Great location in CBD
Great location to all aspects of CBD. QVB just a few minutes walk. Pitt St Mall just around the block, Circular Quay only a 10 minute walk. Everything you need just a stones throw away!!

Rude and unreasonable front desk. I asked to extend my check out 30 minutes to 1130AM and told I would be charged half day. I hurried and packed, as she "allowed" me to stay until 1115AM to check out. And upon check in, I waited until 3PM

Dear Traveler, I apologise you did not enjoy your recent stay with us and I am very sorry you felt my front desk receptionists were rude. Out Check Out is at 11:00. For the charge of $20.00 you may stay in the room until 12:00. For the charge of$40.00 you may stay in the room until 13:00. If a guest wishes to use the room past 13:00, the guest will pay half a days rate. If a guest does not wish to use the room till past 13:00, they are more than welcome to store their luggage with the reception for as long as necessary. Recommended hotel in Sydney CBD
Stayed in the standard room for 8 nights. Spacious, high ceiling, full functional AC and comfortable bed. Got some good sleeps. Handrail should be added in the shower for safety. Wifi speed is just OK and sometimes the everyday re-login could be difficult. Both the hotel and Expedia should look into the matter of showing clear, honest and correct room photos and descriptions. I booked the room in last Oct. Before departure for this trip, I revisited the booking details and found the information confusing. On Expedia's website (.com.hk), one of the photos illustrating "Standard Room" clearly showed 2 large windows are in the room but the "Need to Know" under "More details" stated that "No windows". I emailed to the hotel to seek clarification and the hotel replied that "usually" the windows of standard rooms are tinted. Eventually my room did have only one tinted window. If tinted windows in standard room is really the "usual" case, then I think it is very inappropriate to show those room photos with large and clear windows on the reservation page. I just checked again on Expedia's Park8 Hotel page and the photos are still in there.

Love this place
Wish I didn't have to stay with family most times when I go to Sydney as this is where I'd rather be. Location is mint - shops, parks, transport and eats are all right there. But it's the laid back feel from the moment you arrive that I love so much - that subtle but catchy beat playing in the background, the uber-cool but-oh-so-hipster-professional team on reception who really do seem to give one. I just feel like I'm somewhere between the comforts of home and being greeted like a friend at funkster-central, it's home away from home with unicorn glitter. Face it, the line in front of the street-side coffee hatch tells you what you need to know, the quirky artwork in your room makes you chuckle (and take selfies), there's a perfect blend of retro, understated, and just the right touches - you need to be there.
