We had the best stay for our 10 year anniversary. Merry made check in a breeze and even gave us a very generous room upgrade which made the night even more special. Thank you Merry & the team at the Star for giving two very tired parents a night to remember!

My grandson's wish to stay at a hotel "like Kevin in the Home Alone movie" was more than fulfilled with our stay. It was fantastic. In his words " The auto opening lid on the toilet, auto flushing, big pool, big tv, big bed, yummy brekky & friendly people(staff) were much better than the movie. Myself, it was the best stay I have ever experienced & Beautiful Memories with my grandson I will always remember. We would both really recommend "The Star".

Honestly felt kind of let down by the experience at The Star. Firstly upon check in our room was not ready which was fine as we were early. Were told we would receive a text when it was ready. Never got a text so headed back after a couple of hours to ask. Was told that I would need to line up in the check in line that was 30-40 people deep just to ask the question. When I said that I’d already done that once and wasn’t keen to spend an hour in a line to ask a question I was told that the room was in fact ready. The room at first glance was lovely. Opened the window to what should have been an amazing view of the city/bridge only to see that the glass was so filthy that we could hardly see anything. Other things that were below par in terms of the room were that the glasses in our bathroom had the sanitary cover over them but when we actually picked them up one had water in it and lip marks on the side. Really gross. The other glasses in the room that we used were never changed in the three days we were there. Breakfast at the Harvest Buffet was ok but not the standard of a five star hotel by any stretch. Coffee from self serve machine. Paper cups for juice. You are not seated by a host, just told to go find your own table which is a feat in itself trying to work out if a table is free or not or finding one that didn’t have someone’s leftovers still on it. Food was just ok. The place is charging a premium price but unfortunately not delivering a premium product.

We always book a room here at the Star whenever we watch a play at the Lyric Theatre. It is very conveniently connected to the hotel. The hotel also has its own Metro rail station which can connect you to pretty much anywhere in the Sydney CBD. Plenty of dining options within the hotel as well. Plenty of restaurant to choose from and there’s also a mini food court for the general public. It gets a bit crowded later in the day, till later in the night when the Casino is in full throttle. You can also easily walk around the darling harbour and pyrmont area.

It's the second time we've stayed here and the main pool was closed. They should do maintenance when it' winter - not summer. We have to go to the Darline Pool instead but that pool has ground that burns your feet on a hot day. We had to make sure the baby didn't crawl into a sunny park of the pool area or she would have been crying form how hot the floor was. Grateful if the Star could put a notice on their webpage if the pool is unavailable. It's the main reason we stay at the Star Grand so we would have picked different dates if we knew it was closed.
