"Red Lion Inn, pub and brewery near Cotswolds"
My wife and I were looking for a hotel near Swindon, as we were touring the Cotswolds. The Red Lion Inn looked very charming, so we decided to give it a shot. When we entered the pub, it was packed! A lot of the town locals frequent the pub. After finding the bartender, we were checked in and shown our room. Behind the pub, there is a beer garden and their own brewery. Our room was directly across from the brewery.
Complimentary water, teas/coffees and some biscuits. Good bathroom facilities with a full bathtub and shower, and a shower curtain that goes all the way across, so you don't get the wet floor that so many of the half shower curtains in Europe lead to.
The bed is super cozy and gets nice and warm, which was nice, as we visited the weekend before Christmas. The bed is a bit narrow, so you won't have enough room to roll around with two people in it. Also, no wifi!
Breakfast was amazing. They have a lot of locally grown food and the meat is locally sourced. Their sausages are soaked in their brewery beer.
As the pub was very popular, on the Saturday night that we stayed there, it was fairly noisy into the night. We were able to sleep through it, but if you're a light sleeper, this may keep you from selecting this hotel. Otherwise, I would recommend it and come again. I really hope it has wifi by then!
