I travel a *lot* (over 20 weeks in a year) and have stayed in hotels all over Asia. The Intercontinetal in Suzhou was a bit of an unknown quantity when I booked but I'm glad I did. The location, within a 30-minute cab ride from the Suzhou HST station and walking distance from the International Conference Centre is convenient and the view over the lake very pleasing. Rooms are spacious, modern and clean and staff friendly and helpful. A colleague was upgraded and said that her room was the best she'd ever had. I would definitely stay here again. I rarely eat in hotel restaurants, finding them often mediocre and overpriced, but the Chinese restaurant at the Intercontinent was good and reasonably priced for its standard. The lounge is relaxed and the bar reasonably-priced considering it is a hotel. Pro tip: The breakfast room is crowded at peak times and they serve the overspill in the lounge. Whilst they offer basically the same menu in the lounge, the fare in the breakfast room is better and fresher - wise guests will time their breakfast schedule to eat in the main room. That said, I would definitely stay here again.
Conveniently located in the heart of Suzhou with the main commercial street with lots of good places nearby. Close to major attractions. The hotel decor is quite quirky especially for China, but it was very comfortably and staff were very friendly!

Hotel is great if you are seeking space, quietness and a resort like feeling. Staff were helpful in writing translations for direction as there is very limited English in this town.
Beds were soft and comfortable. A real plus! I would come back here if ever in China again.
Coffee shops are in walking distance.
We had a very enjoyable 3 night stay at the Courtyard. It was well worth paying extra for an executive room which gave us access to the lounge. It was on the 25th floor and supplied a good choice of snacks and drinks. The hotel is only a few years old so it is still in very good condition, the bathroom was immaculate and the bed was comfortable with a good mattress. We had the choice of breakfast in the executive lounge or in the restaurant on the 4th floor. We preferred the restaurant, even although it was busier becasue the buffet was topped up more often and was therefore hot. The hotel is in the Suzhou Industrial Park which is more residential than industrial with wide boulevards and shopping malls. The lake is within walking distance where we found a few western style restaurants and bars. Suzhou city centre is only 20 minutes by taxi. We couldn't fault this hotel and found all the staff to be very polite and helpful.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again, staff and service were very good. The room was clean although the carpet needed a shampoo as a few stains.Only other thing was the shower door wouldn't close properly and the grouting around the bottom of the shower needs renewing otherwise a very comfortable stay.

I like the hotel with a nice view. The staffs here are knowledgable and very helpful. You can eat at the hotel or take a taxi to the local seafood restaurants, about 10 to 16 RMB. Just ask the staffs. They arrange the local tour, buy high speed train tickets to Shanghai, and airfares to other tour destination. I also used the room service for breakfast before I left for my flight. I love the local non-spicy noodle dish. I did not know the name, but I would eat it again if I would go back.
With history dating back to the 6th century BC, Suzhou was built around a series of canals and bridges, lined with traditional canal-style residences. Visitors won't want to miss out on the Museum of Opera and Theater, the Suzhou Museum, the Suzhou Silk Museum, and the Shizi Lin, Lion Grove Garden, considered to be the most beautiful and classic outdoor retreat in the city.
