Fine for one night
Stay was pleasant but not outstanding. The room doesnt reflect the main hotel but was fine for a one night stay. Lodge room was reasonably comfortable but bathroom is in need of a revamp and carpet was badly marked. Noise from adjoining room's bathroom very loud.

The hotel advertises itself as pet friendly. However, as pet owners, we were treated to inferior accommodation, away from the hotel building itself, on the border of the surrounding grounds. The room was not well cleaned, with items found on the floor, faeces in the toilet and rust as well as flakes of paint found in the bath. The bathroom door was damaged along the bottom. The basin plug was too small so water leaked out. All the windows were locked and no keys were provided.

Good location for surrounding golf courses. Hotel nice but rooms were not as the rooms advertised online. Small, bathrooms which need modernising. Dirty toilets, cracked bathtub. Disrupted sleep with noise all through the night

Stayed in room 7. Lack of decaffeinated drink sachets in the room, so had to go and ask for some. One of the bedside lights didn’t work. Fan in the en-suite was very noisy. No chair to sit on in the room. The dining room radiators were quite hot, but there was a window wide open, so not environmentally friendly.

We had room 48, which was on the ground floor of the annex and was small and dark. The wardrobe was small. No drawers. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work and the bathroom and bedroom were full of condensation. The window looked out onto a public footpath, which was busy. We had to keep the curtains closed for privacy. The outside of the window hadn’t been cleaned for quite some time and was dirty and full of cobwebs/spider webs.

1) booked the lodge room because on the website only rooms at the lodge have private bathrooms, which turned out not to be the case. When later I asked to be moved to the main building, I never got the answer and I let it go. 2) I arrived at the place one hour early, and the room was available, I was told I could check in early but need to pay 15 pounds for that privilege. 3) The lodge room is small with big furniture so you can’t really lounge there. 4) Watertank of the toilet drips so one has to close the bathroom door. 5) wedding guests in the same building banged doors 3am in the morning.

A good basic hotel which is clean and functional
A decent hotel but unfortunately quite limited in terms of amenities and services. The main issue is that it’s a wood framed building and so you can hear all the footsteps from the room above. In addition the cars are parked directly outside the rooms. This can be quite noisy too as there is no AC and so the windows need to be open. Finally, the mattress is super soft which may suit some but not others (though the sheets were super nice and comfy)

Stayed in mansion house (as part of a wedding stay) and twice in courtyard annex, and found courtyard annex rooms superior in regards to condition, facilities and quietness. Breakfast quite acceptable consisting of cold buffet portion (usual cereals, juices, fruit and bakery items) and cooked-to-order hot portion. Plenty of car parking space and only a short taxi ride from Woking station for those without own transport. Bar/restaurant menu quite acceptable if not a bit on the pricey side. Nice terrace and grounds and pleasant walking paths in immediate vicinity provided you avoid the golf balls!

We enjoyed our stay at the Gorse Hill immensely. Parking is plentiful, which is a good thing because the hotel is quite isolated, with nothing but woodland and high end private houses in the vicinity. We stayed in a Lodge room, which was part of a small annex about 100 yards from the main house. It was small but comfortable and absolutely fine for our needs, feeling "cosy" in the best possible way. The average age of staff was quite low and they sometimes were not as attentive as they might have been in the public areas, but were very obliging when sought out for service such as drinks, teas etc. The Maitre D' was excellent and made sure we had an enjoyable time in the restaurant. The meals were pricey (where isn't nowadays?) but the quality was superb and we had no complaints. On the whole we would recommend the Gorse Hill.

We had to stand in a long line for 15 minutes waiting to check in. Whilst drunken men staggered back and forth talking coursely. The hotel was hosting a drunken celebration. Our room was the wrong configeration & not what we booked. The staff blamed the problem on us.

Not four star or value for money. Do not stay
On arrival we were told how much the price of our stay would be and that it didn't include breakfast, even though we had paid in advance for room and breakfast. After a 4 hour trip it was i last thing we needed to sort out. The room was basic with a dirty stained carpet, chair and bed base that needed a valance sheet around it, although the bed sheets were clean and it was comfortable. Breakfast was from 8 but we had to leave earlier on the first morning, however they did sort a continental for us. Second mornings cooked breakfast was ok but could have done with more beans. Overall our stay didn't reflect the four star rating or the price we paid. Will not stay again.

Room was very dusty. There was what looked like a used towel in the bathroom and hair found in the bed. I asked the staff to redo the room but they told me that housekeeping has now gone home so had no choice but to stay in the room. It was also impossible to regulate the shower temperature as it was ether too cold or too hot.

Beautiful Hotel
The hotel was magnificent! The Junior suite we had was beautiful, with 4 poster bed a balcony that over look the grounds, it was very romantic! I would definitely book again!

Highly recommend
Very nice hotel set in quiet location, the staff were all very friendly and really helpful which made our stay even better. We arrived late and the restaurant had a large booking but the staff went the extra mile to fit us into the restaurant and the food was delicious. Defiantly recommend and I would have no hesitation in staying there again.
