Good stay - some noise issues

Posted 06-Nov-2015 on Hotels
Pleasant overnight stop - arrived late and had to call for reception to be attended - but very prompt. Hotel decor a bit shaby and being redecorated, but large comfortable room. Main downside was noise tranmission from room above, soundproofing very poor. Best features are gym, grounds, location and the staff. Breakfast good too. Highlight of trip was getting my smartphone back after foolishly leaving it in the room when I left - staff honest and helpful.

Pros: Didn't use all the facilites - it's looking a bit tired internaly and externally
Cons: Decor of bedroom needs refreshing Bathroom facilities are in need of upgrading
Location: Stayed as it was close to Hengrave Hall where a wedding we were attending took place.
As an overnight stay it was OK but on the expensive side for what it is.

Quiet location near Bury St Edmunds

Posted 23-Sep-2015 on Hotels
We searched for a hotel that was quietly situated in the countryside near Bury St Edmunds for a modest nightly rate and this hotel matched our needs. The hotel is located on a golf course and it has an indoor swimming pool. We had read several reviews that commented that this hotel needed some refurbishment of the hotel furnishings and room fittings and we found that these reviews were reasonably accurate. The good features were that the free Wi-Fi in our room worked well, we enjoyed our swim in the swimming pool and the staff at the reception desk and in the hotel bar were welcoming and helpful.

Just OK

Posted 21-Sep-2015 on Hotels
Stayed here on a recent business trip. The hotel was looking quite tired and my room (bed)was a little uncomfortable (two singles pushed together but with an obvious join making it uncomfortable). Strong smell of damp in the stairway and the lift was out of service. A very large bedroom but with a small TV so difficult to see from the bed. No room service menu in the room and quite a limited choice although the food was satisfactory. Wouldn't rush back but was OK for a one night stopover.

2 Day Business Trip Aug 2015

Posted 01-Sep-2015 on Hotels
Stayed Aug 2015 on Business for 2 nights, lovely location, great facilities, just needed a little updating as the hotel and rooms look a little tired. Staff were great and would certainly stay again for value.

Missed opportunity.

Posted 27-Aug-2015 on Hotels
Such a pity, the location and facilities have such potential. I was really looking forward to my stay until I arrived and saw the poor condition of this "resort" which desperately deserves some tlc. My room was fairly clean but a lick of paint and a steam cleaning of the bathroom suite is seriously required and the carpet that looks like it died 10 years ago should be buried and a replacement fitted . the bed was lumpy too! Communal areas were much the same "depressing". The bar/restaurant was around a third full but food took over an hour to be served at dinner. Breakfast is buffet style which was presented in a dark alcove area of the restaurant which gave the impression they are not proud of the food they serve. Won't be returning.
