Beautifully Renovated Barn in Suffolk Countryside

Posted 10-Aug-2015
Pros: We especially enjoyed Oak Farm Barn's bright, airy spaces and how fresh and clean it was.
Cons: Nothing to improve
Location: Oak Farm Barn is just outside Bury St Edmunds a Suffolk county town. The town has major historical significance plus a market and restaurants/shops.
Oak Farm Barn is truly a country experience. The barn is beautifully renovated and decorated like a gracious English country home. We received a warm welcome on arrival including tea and biscuits which was most appreciated after our travels. There is easy parking in front of the barn and a relaxing seating area in the rear garden for you to sit and enjoy the sunshine. Our room was equipped with everything we could possible need and the bed was very comfortable with a plenty of pillows. Tracy and Jack have thoughtfully placed maps and local information on places of interest, walking routes, places to eat and information on everything possibly “Suffolk” in the large entrance hallway of the barn. Please try one of Tracy’s wonderful full English breakfasts for a great breakfast experience. Tracy and Jack were great hosts, full of local knowledge on how to enjoy our stay. We were in the process of moving into the area from USA and had so much to learn about navigating the process. Our hosts helped us with local information and gave us recommendations for local companies making the whole experience so much easier. When we unexpectedly needed two additional day’s accommodation they found us a place to stay on property although they were fully booked. Tracy and Jack were amazing hosts and genuinely lovely people. Stay here!

We stayed recently in the Oak Farm Barn and our stay was lovely. Good quiet location. Breakfast was eccellent every day; the hosts were also very welcoming and the location quiet. I would recommend this place if you want some peace and quiet in a rural setting.

A stayed here for three nights and I have to say. It was a perfect as you could get. Fabulous hosts, great service and lovely rooms and beds. The bathrooms and room were clean and neat. The breakfast simply delicious. Tracey cooks a wonderful scrambled egg, bacon and sausage! For anyone close to the Bury St Edmunds area on business or pleasure, don't let this hidden gem pass you by. :)

Quiet location

Posted 18-May-2015
Pros: It's location, cleanliness & helpful hosts.
Cons: Nothing
Location: B&B in a lovely quiet village about 8/10 miles from Bury St. Edmonds. We did a couple of short circular walks, written directions borrowed from b&b.
We chose this B&B for its quiet location. The barn is 19th century with lovely high beamed ceiling in the entrance hall our room was excellent with king size bed, beautiful bed linen & modern en suite. Our hosts very welcoming & had good general knowledge of the local area. Breakfast was cooked beautifully the choice was very good, they have their own chickens & the eggs were excellent too. We will certainly book here again & will recommend it to friends.

Overnight stay at Oak Farm Barn.

Posted 27-Apr-2015 on Hotels
We stayed over for one night at the Oak Farm Barn. We received a very warm welcome and were shown our room and facilities. All first class !! The pot of tea and cake we were offered on arrival was a lovely touch, and after a long journey, gratefully received. Our room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The information Tracey gave us on the local area was very helpful and we enjoyed a lovely evening. There are laminated descriptions of local pubs and restaurants with directions, available at the front door which you can take with you to ensure you don't get lost. Breakfast was excellent!! and set us up for our forward journey. We can highly recommend a stay at such a quality bed and breakfast.

A barn with character

On arrival we were warmly greeted by Tracey who showed us to our delightful room and asked if we would like a cup of tea. This was served on the patio with a piece of home baked Victoria Sponge. The breakfast was superb. Tracey and Jack were good hosts and were always ready to help, the barn was kept in great order and it is in a great location being only 4 miles from Bury St Edmunds and the lovely Suffolk countryside. I would recommend a stay at Oak Farm Barn.
