Just a hotel in Suffolk

Posted 03-Dec-2015
Pros: N/A
Cons: It could be a little wamer
Location: N/A
It was ok it was cold in the main hall and cold in my room I had to get a night man to bring up a electronic heater at 3 am in the morning and when you are paying a £160 a night it not too funny and the food was just ok but the boby treatment staff and room was very good

shame about lack of hot water

Stay was for 3 nights, on last evening and the following morning there was no hot water. Hotel said they would get maintenance to check it out, and could only apologise.

A luxury weekend to chill.

Posted 30-Aug-2015
Pros: Food and Staff
Cons: Air conditioning in the room.
Location: Not far from Ipswich.Bury St Edmonds worth a trip. Try Ickworth House, Lavenham, Melford or go east to Aldeburgh, 'Always a good walk by the sea.
This hotel is for chillers only. Just relax and forget all your worries. Fantastic food, great staff, top class facility. BUT; dont have a 2nd floor room when it's the hottest weekend of the year. Not that you'll know when you book but it was just too hot. No air conditioning just a small noisy fan so took the edge off the chill factor! However, its was a fantastic base to explore west Suffolk. Do try it.......

Pros: Almost everything
Cons: We had a problem controlling the heat in our room.
Location: You don't need anything near by. Time here is enough.
We were there to celebrate a wedding and every detail was taken care of. It was perfect.

Great service

Posted 01-Dec-2014 on Hotels
The staff were first class - attentive, polite, professional. The superior double room was very large and comfortable, but the shower was very small. Decor was OK, but will need refreshing soon. By and large, the room was very clean. Being woken at 5am by the dustcart right outside our room wasn't welcome!! Breakfast was excellent - loads of choice and good quality ingredients. Dinner is expensive (even the table d'hote menu) and for the price, not quite as good as I'd expect.

Gem on the outskirts of Ipswich

Posted 21-Nov-2014 on Hotels
Delightful building and surroundings, beautifully quiet but only a stone's throw away from Ipswich, attentive staff and will definitely book again. Superior Room had all that one would need for an overnight stay, being warm and cosy with original features such as exposed beams.

One night stay

Posted 25-Oct-2014
Pros: Lovely location and setting.
Cons: WiFi in the room - non existent.
Rooms pleasant, clean, and nicely furnished. Staff generally were good and attentive. Bar food was good and an enjoyable breakfast but the hotel seemed not to be that used to (well behaved) children. WiFi did not work in the room, worked fine in the lounge but was frustrating. I was informed the "box" probably needed to be rebooted in the morning nonchalantly by a member off staff after querying the service for the second time - who then tried to blame the weather for the lack of service...

Peaceful, relaxing and first class accommodation

Posted 21-Aug-2014 on Hotels
An absolutely splendid imposing Grade 1 listed Elizabethan Manor House, complete with considerable Georgian additions and Stuart interior embellishments this is such a wonderful place to stay. Peaceful, restful, closely surrounded by beautiful grounds and in 175 unspoilt acres of rolling Suffolk countryside. Our room was large and spacious, pleasantly furnished and all facilities were first class. Attention to detail and to our comfort was assured. Extremely comfortable bed and quality bathroom accessories. Breakfast was served most efficiently, food was plentiful, tasty and with a wide choice on the menu. Freedom to use the many historic rooms and, in our case, to walk the grounds in perfect summer weather was an additional bonus. The whole experience on our first stay at this lovely venue was one of calm, friendly and efficient professionalism from all the staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and shall most certainly return.
