I stayed at the hotel as a birthday treat with my beautiful partner. I checked in first and waited for my partner to arrive. Having seen the room with I reserved, although a beautiful room, I wanted a kite of a wow factor when she arrived and so asked for an ungrade. I was taken to view other larger rooms and saw three rooms which I thought where as beautiful but with a larger room, bed, and bathroom it was what I wanted. My partner arrived and although she was happy with our first room I decided that I wanted to create more of a memory of our first stay at the hotel and so I opted to change room. We quickly moved to the bigger room and settled in nicely. Staff were accommodating and although there was a charge for the upgrade we were happy to pay. We had a lovely dinner at the hotel and then walked around the grounds looking at the sights and sounds of this beautiful place. We went to bed and slept peacefully. We had breakfast and my partner left leaving me to check-out at 11.10am. A wonderful place with wonderful staff. We will be back again.

A beautiful stately home with fantastic amenities, the staff were friendly and welcoming, the catering was wonderful, and all within an elegant, comfortable setting. Exactly what we were looking for.

The food in the restaurant was first class, the grounds around the hotel are beautiful, spring daffodils were everywhere

Faded glory

The most disappointing breakfast presented on not very clean crockery. Could and should be much better.

Dear Baker boy Many thanks for your feedback, I have ensured that the Kitchen are aware of your review. We are investing in the public areas shortly, and with the re-established Kitchen Garden starting to produce crops there are many improvements planned.

Great weekend - but some aspects need addressing

Posted 21-Feb-2017
Very relaxing and beautiful hotel. High quality of room design. However a little tired in places (grubby light carpet and crumbly tile grouting) and public areas could do with refreshing - but not enough to spoil the experience. Dinner was superb - but breakfast not so. Cold food Buffet was way below standard expected at a hotel of this caliber - servery too small (a tiny table) with little available and not being monitored efficiently to replenish. Had to request cheese from kitchen and refill of the one juice jug. Cereals in packets - you get better than this in budget hotels.insufficient staff on first morning -Sunday -to cover the two unconnected dining rooms.

Thank you for your comments, they are much appreciated. I am delighted to read that you enjoyed your dinner. I have passed on your comments regarding Breakfast service, when we have a "full house" we tend to find that most guest which to have breakfast at the same time, and we have limited space on the buffet, the buffet is monitored, however on this occasion timings went awry. We will shortly be re-carpeting the bedroom corridors and stair well, followed by a refurbishment of the Garden Room, this will make a big improvement. Kind Regards Graham Mcg
